EDir just released!
EDir is the
All in 1 One solution
for Elxis CMS.
Directory, E-Commerce, Reservations, E-Magazine, Downloads, Subscriptions, Compares, Comments, Contacts, all included.
It can be used to create Directories of any kind, Real Estate sites, Hotel Directories with Reservations Management, Product Catalogs, E-library, Portal, E-Magazines, E-Shops, Subscriber sites, etc.
It can by any and all of these at the same time!
It so flexible that
can be easily configured to be anything you want it to be
.
EDir introduces a number of new features. For example:
Extensions, iModules and Dynamic Template
.
By adding
Extensions
you can change the way EDir works and add new features. Imagine it as components inside components!
iModules
are special kind of modules that live only inside Dynamic Template.
With
Dynamic Template
you can create (without programming) complex template patterns that change based on the section of the EDir you are viewing. Inside the dynamic template, you can display regular modules, iModules and the EDir's output.
EDir is a commercial solution offered with full open source code.

Each purchase is for
ONE
(1) installation only.
After the first purchase you have an even greater discount for the second, third etc.
Notice that EDir now has a discount of
40%
! (from 129euro to 79euro)
After the first purchase you will have an additional 10% discount (total 50%)!
If you buy seperately all the components needed to do what EDir does alone you will give 5-6 times more money. EDir gives you all the features in a single package.
The full EDir features, tell me if is worthing it's money or not:

Yes i have to admit that it is very very good value for money.
Just one more question...Does this product need
Zend Optimizer
or
Ion Cube
to run it...I hope not as some of my clients don't have this installed in there shared/virtual/dedicated hosted servers.

No, it is open source
and
not-encypted
although it is licenced as
commercial
. You are allowed to make small changes to the frontend area (html) if you wish to modify more the appearence of your site. You are not allowed to re-distribute these changes or change core files (such as classes, internal procudes and functions, backend files etc). If you wish to make more changes than html contact us.
I must admit that EDir is a little complex specially for the new users as it is a revolutionary component and unique of it's kind. That's why together with EDir you get (for free) a 140 pages user manual that will solve any question. Once you start working with it you will get the idea of how we work with EDir and afterwards everything will be much more simple.
EDir's is an expandable, re-usable, flexible system that allows you to load specific kind of information on a listing level. This has as a result that you can make listings totally different without the need of special components. This is done by
loading extensions on a listing level
rather than in the whole component or in categories level.

Ive now read the manual and i thought WOW
...the limits of this component is you imagination
. Over all the years of me developing. I have never come across anything like it.
But i have some questions.
1. I would like to buy the product and test it on a local server. But I'm not sure what client I'm going to use it for yet, and i see when you try and purchase this product I'm asked for the domain name that it will be used for. But as you can see I'm not sure yet. Is this a problem ?
2. Will there soon be a developer license so EDir can be used on unlimited web sites by just paying one fee ?
3. Also is it possible for you to make a module or for EDir that shows a
google map
http://www.google.com/apis/maps/
within a listing that relates to the origin of lets say a location of a house, within a Estate agent website setup for example ?

Thanks for your kind words.
1. No, it is not. If you know where it will be used just type the url if you don't know don't type it.
2. We can discuss this, contact goup.gr and tell us what exactly you want.
3. Yes we can. Propose us extensions, modules and imodules and we will build them for free if we think that will be a good addition to EDir. Of course at any time you can hire us to create any extension you wish exactly as you want it. Contact
goup.gr's custom developement pages
for more information.

EDir's version is consisted of a decimal number is this format: x.y
x is the major version, the software generation.
y is the current development status of the major version.
There is also an other number but it is only for our usage that shows the current product revision.
Current EDir's version: 1.1 rev33
As long as your purchased EDir's major version is the current version (currently 1.x) you get free updates. If the upgrade is for a bug fix or a security patch and we still support your version (meaning is not too old -like 4-5 years old) you get free upgrades.
If EDir upgrades to generation 2.x you will able to get an update patch but not for free as it is like purchasing a new product (major version declares a very big software upgrade).
For now there are no plans on making such a big upgrade as we build EDir from the begining to be able to support many-many things. So I beleive for at least one year you will be OK. Of course we support any EDir version current or not. We have never leave someone without support even those that don't pay us (like in this forum).
Note:
You can get support by us for the whole Elxis CMS not just EDir. We know Elxis better than anyone else and at the time we are speaking we create an even more powerfull Elxis that will make many people talk about it

Yes, EDir's reservation system was build for general usage not just for properties. It could even be used for tickets although we were planing a special extension for that. That's why we use in it general terms like "reservation item" and not "property" or "room". For using it for booking cars you only may need to modify 2-3 strings in language files in order to the result to be better. For example the hotel's rooms "vacancy" is better to be renamed to something like "available cars".
Properties VS Cars
Reservation Item: hotel/room etc - car
Reservation name: i.e. double bed room - i.e. toyota yaris
Reservation period: checkin/checkout date - start/end date
Available reservation items: vacancy - available cars
It is only a matter of language strings...
The site bellow uses it for example for three things: accommodation, events, tours and trips:
http://www.oztravelspot.com/component/option,com_edir/Itemid,5/
Notice that the above example site uses only EDir nothing else! It is what we say about EDir: it is a small cms inside the cms! It has it's own components (called extensions), it's own modules (called imodules), it's own template system, installers, control panel, rss, language, images/files managers etc and of course it has been created for best optimization with Elxis CMS.
