Backdating articles

hi there,
I currently go directly into the sql database to assign a date in the past to an article. Are there any plans to enable this through Elxis?

No, this option doesn't exist.
What you can do is:
1. Reset creation date to current date (Elxis 4.2+)
2. Select to display the last modification date instead of the creation date (or the opposite).

Hi, but I don't think this covers what I want to do: to set the date as a date in the last, eg 1st January 2005.

Yes, I said that this option doesn't exist i just mentioned the available related options. It doesn't exist on purpose because it is not good to change the creation date of the articles. In Elxis 4.2 we added a reset option after users requests. The reset option just makes the article current, it is ok from an ethical point of view. Your request sounds like "black hat seo" tactics. I advise you to set the creation date to the date it was entered in site, regardless if it is an old article taken from an other site or from somewhere else.

Ok, sounds like there are no plans to include this feature. I will keep doing via the sql database. We are uploading a lot of pre-digital reports and it's important in search results etc. that the date provided for these reports is the original date of publication - not the date of posting. Certainly no intention of 'black hat SEO' tactics.
Thanks.
