New website from sretch
«

Hello,
I'm changing from CMS Made Simple to Elxis.
For the moment I've got some problems, my actual site looks like that (
www.cco.lu
).
I would like to make a straight forward simple website without categories, or perhaps with 2 categorie (the official site & secure member aera).
How could I do that, I didn't found good explications in the net. I didn't found also a documentation or explications how I could start a complete new webbite from scratch without any template content.
I tried it with deleting every category and article from the templates afer the installation, but dat didn't changed anything.
Could somebody help me ?
best regards from Luxemburg

Dear lesaigles
To built a site with Elxis 4.x like the given example is very easy. You have a site of 3 languages and supposing that German is the main language then English and French will be translations of the structuring content you will make. These options you control into main settings of the control panel.
The right structuring content is the most important in any site, in order to be functional for administrator and visitors. Of course you need at least a category and by Elxis 4.x you can make as many sub-categories you like under one category. Building the tree content structure in the way you like (category - sub-category - content item), automatically Elxis 4.x will build for you and the corresponding tree menu.
Start with experiments on a localhost installation, to understand the mechanism of structuring content, so to be familiar with Elxis 4.x before to proceed at once on an online site building and i am sure you will find out that finally is not so hard to do it alone.

Thx for your replay nikos.
But I still have some questions !
For what are the categorys good in elxis ?
How do I call in an article for example the gallery module ?
For the moment I put in some more points in my main menu and linked them with the corresponding articles

Stefan, as i have explained you categories are important for content structure reasons.
Example on the site you mentioned:
Category -> Bicycles
Sub-category -> Classic Bicycles
Sub-category -> Racing Bicycles
e.t.c.
In any category or sub-category you can create as many you like content items, which are those one having the final information.
Example:
Category -> Bicycles
Sub-category -> Racing Bicycles
Content item -> Mercier Bicycles
Note that in Elxis 4.x (as in previous also versions) you can create and autonomous pages. These are articles (let's say) which they do not belong to any category or sub-category.
Example of an autonomous page: Gallery
Before to answer you second question, you must know that the modules are running and displayed into specific module positions of the template and not into content. However in Elxis 4.x apart of the modules there are and the plugins which they do the same job as modules but plugins in Elxis 4.x have the possibility to run and be displayed into content items, into autonomous pages and into specific module positions.
So if you like to create and point on menu a gallery, as you asked, this you have to do is to create an autonomous page named Gallery and there to insert a plugin for galleries (you can install various from
elxis.net
) and then to create on main menu a link to this autonomous page.
