Bridge with an external forum

I know about bridges in Elxis and I want to ask a question.
Some years ago, we decided to move our forum somewhere else (now it's a sub-forum in www.mame.gr).
Our website (www.greekroms.net), still has its old, ugly form but soon will be using Elxis.
As it is right now, it has no registration and there's only an external link to our forum.
Is it possible to connect that forum with Elxis so that all the users in that forum will become users in out site (usernames and passwords) and when someone registers with GreekRoms (our site) they will automatically register with mame.gr and vice versa?
The problem here is that the forum is in a totally different server and uses another database.
In mame.gr it says "Powered by mxBB-Portal © 2001, 2006 & phpBB © 2001, 2006 phpBB Group".

It can be done even if it is on a different database but not in a different server.

The problems are:
1. Different server: Elxis must include files from the forum and this can not be done if the forum is located in a different site (otherwise you would be vunerable to remote file inclusion attempts). It could be ok only if it was on a different domain on the same server (and this depending on the server's security settings).
2. There is no Elxis  - phpBB bridge.
3. In order the forum to be in a different site/domain mysql should be allowed to connect to remote hosts, which is a security threat.
