IOSR - Service Charges on Hotel Bookings
«

I've scanned most of the threads around this and haven't found the answer...
Here are the requirements:
1) The customer has to pay 100% upfront. There is no concept of surety fee. To be sure pay.
2) We as a business need to charge a 10% service fee for each booking.
Essentially markup the price to 110%
This is how we want to show payments page to the user
Name Adults Children Quantity Price
Triple Room 1 0 1 $ 260.00
Subtotal (Rooms) $ 260.00
Price for 1 night
Total USD 260.00
Service Fee & Taxes etc. USD 26.00
Total USD 286.00
How can we achieve this?

That doesn't quite satisfy me.
I am willing to spend time under the hood to make it happen, however I need to hear from the guru's on the forum about how to go about doing this.

This is not true.
Direct credit card process is supported by the Paypal PRO payment gateway (USA, Canada, UK). Indirect credit card charge is supported by the other online payment gateways.
So, you can charge credit cards with IOSR
. You can also build any payment gateway method you wish working as you want. The system is fully modular.
1. You can set surety fee for 0 to 100%. So, set it to 100% and you are done.
2. IOSR does not interfere into the administrator - hoteliers relations. However it provides you all the needed info to charge the hoteliers for the services you provide them. The "report" feature was build mostly for this. You can easily see the earnings / bookings for each hotelier and charge them. The hotelier will perform the payment the way you will instract him. For example you can send him to paypal to pay to your paypal account, to your bank's site to make an online deposit, etc.

not to be funny or anything, but where have you seen a PROFESSIONAL tour operator charging clients with Paypal?
it is always credit/debit cards only and usually 2-3% for credit cards service charge and small charge of like 3-5EUR for debit cards.
This is everywhere in Europe (i've worked in travel industry for 12 years)

rulez22 we must define here that Datahell is a developer not a travel agent or what else.
Besides of criticize something or somebody it's better idea i think to suggest changes at upcoming release of IOSR.

I'm not here to criticise someone - more than welcome to give some ideas for the next release:
1. season periods in easy readable format like dd/mm/yyyy or dd-mm-yyyy, not yyyy-mm-dd
2. "overlapping" or "gaps" in seasons could be done without "check dates" button as it is already written in ajax (make it more user-friendly with simple java-script)
3. make max limit on image sizes/file sizes for hotels (let's say 800x800px or 1mb whichever), so system can reject huge files uploaded by untrained hoteliers
4. make bookings made - undeletable from the system (keep information in separate table for archive purposes), well at least for admin, otherwise when information gets changed on hotels - it will mess up all the bookings "connected" to that hotel.
5. no need to keep old prices in the system (cronjob?)
6. address field for customers as a textarea, not one line inputbox
7. Ability to add service charges to card payments (offline card processing component)
8. Prices should in more simplier way - because seasons are always the same for all the room types, when you fill the prices there is a lot of unnecessary work right now inserting same seasons for different room types over and over again.
9. Ability for sales managers to "freely" add extra charges (not pre set ones), like "charge name" - "amount", "charge name" - "amount", etc.. Same as add discounts (could be just negative amount, like -55EUR)
10. Ability for sales manager to "freely" change dates and recalculate total amount for bookings made.
11. Easyly putting "stop sales" (all bedbanks have it), when you can block certain periods when hotel is fully booked (right now you have to readjust seasons in very complicated way to do this)
these are the main problems with IOSR in my opinion as a tour operator

Whole model of IOSR is not working these days - to give hoteliers freedom and full control to add prices about their hotels.
- IOSR is not user friendly in that way, a lot of hoteliers are not educated to do it
- There are number of free services (huge companies worth millions) like hotelbeds, laterooms, venere, booking.com, etc., which have very user friendly engines, professional and where hoteliers can list their properties and these services take commission from them.
IOSR imho should move in direction where tour operator as a company should be in control of ALL hotels prices (bulk adding, editing, deleting), and not hotelier.

I agree with the following line...

rulez22 no one forces you to buy/use IOS Reservations. If you like it and fits your work you get it and you use it. It is that simple.
IOSR might not be suitable for anyone, for some people it is excellent, for some others might miss some features. This is natural as many people need custom solutions and especially in tour business where every hotel has its own work method. You can not imagine what different implementations and requests I have heard. I continuously update IOSR and improve the system. I try to cover most people needs. I believe that IOSR is an excellent and high quality software for the money it costs, it is solid as rock, secure and bugs free. Please find me an other booking engine that does what IOSR does and costs even the double of IOSR.
rulez22 this is a support forum. Ask questions related on how to use the software and stop spamming the forum with suspicious posts. It is clear that you dont seek for support but you try to lower IOSR value. Unfortunately for you IOS Reservations is an excellent software for the majority of users.

Hello,
Sorry for open again this thread. I installed the system and is working great so far. I need exactly what ua is requesting. Is there a mod or something I can add to the system in order to get a commission per sale, plus my country taxes based on the rate the hotelier added to the booking system.
If there some there that can create that mod for me I could pay for it.
Regards
