Is this Elxis biggest TURN OFF?

Greetings

OK, you are a programmer or computer geek and you know but tell me,
If you take following to the moll and ask people there what it means,
how many do you think will give you the answer you are looking for?

You must enable JavaScript in your browser to use this feature!

People that has no idea what it means, do you think they will sign up to the newsletter 
when this is stated in bold and red and is the first thing to been seen on the page??

How can I remove this “thing” from my site?
If there is a problem in the signup process, a pop up window should open stating this problem and a solution.

I am using the IOS :: Newsletter component.

Hi.  What is a moll?

As for Javscript, I think that most users may have already seen that and know about it.  The majority of web sites use it and if a user has disabled Javascript then they loose the ability to use web site menus, validation, etc..

Please explain more about where you are seeing this message and what you were doing when you saw it.

As I said, I am using the IOS newsletter component and it is on the sign up page.

First off, you did not enter that link properly.  I copied the link and it does not look like I am seeing an Elxis site.
Secondly, I do not see any sign up link.

Why don't you take a screen shot of what you are seeing because I am not seeing anything that has to do with Javascript (not Java).

This text is displayed in Opera browser, just notice now as I usually work on the site in Firefox but,
the signup works just fine in Opera as it did in Firefox.

I know, Elxis isn’t opera friendly but should be!
So problem solved until Elxis will work in all browsers!

What do you mean Elxis is not Opera friendly ??

Elxis is a CMS, the template that you use, might not is 100% compatible.
What is the template that you use ?
Have you try to fix the CSS from the template for the Opera ?

And we don't get the use of the link that you give us, even if I compare the link with IE, FF & Opera you have NOT make them 100% the same. First of all they have different font size.

Restore to defaults Firefox or at Web browser preferences -> Content -> Enable JavaScript

I will say once again, the Elxis CMS works PERFECT with any browser, the results in the browsers depend of what YOU have add in the contents & you template that you use and perhaps YOU have modify.

what elxis does that others don't? it uses javascript? well 99% of sites uses it.. not only sites.. online games, chat systems, other applications...
should we explain to the visitors of every site build with elxis what is java?
well elxis has the ability to add content.. so  every administrator can add information to his site about java-hiperlinks-achorlinks-scrollbars-flashplayer-iframes-popup windows-!
how many people out there can answer what are all this? a few perhaps? so,  elxis has to teach people how to browse internet? since all this are not unique characteristics of elxis cms but  are global and widely used users have to learn from an encyclopedia or their browser's-manual or other resources ...
as for other issues.. opera, newsletters etc .. other users answered ...i think.

Elxis notifies you that a certain feature requires javascript to be turned on. Most systems/sites wont do that, they will just not work and you will not know the reason. You will think that the site is broken. Do you prefer this? I don't think so.

Today internet relies a lot on javascript and javascript is by default turned ON at any web browser. If the javascript is turned off it is you that disabled it. So, YES you know what is javascript if you have turn it off and it is much better the system to notify you about this rather than not saying anything at all. Go to any big fancy site with cool ajax features, gooble ads, etc, and turn off javascript. The site will not function properly and most probably will not notify you why. Today javascript is required.

The point is simple, open Opera, go to your site newsletter sign up page
(if you use IOS newsletter component)

On top of the page (at least on my site) there is the biggest turn off to anyone
that wants to subscribe, stated in red/bold font inside a read frame:

You must enable JavaScript in your browser to use this feature!

It does not show in Chrome or Firefox but in IE the red frame is shown without the text.

As it is stated on many Elxis pages: Use Firefox on Elxis sites.

Opera users might understand it,  enable JavaScript and sign up, or they
back out as they don't know how to enable JavaScript and don't subscribe.

I know, if the browser has JavaScript issues, IMO, a pop up window should open with
these messages but, not put them on top on the sign up page. I was still able to sign
up even the text was telling me:

What I am saying is, 90% of the market I aim at don’t know much “HOW” computers
work and why should they care about JavaScripts? Most of them use IE of Firefox
anyway.

1. This issue has nothing to do with elxis, but with a third party component (IOS Newsletter).
2. IOS Newsletter uses the standard w3c compliance html tag to display such information: <noscript>message</noscript>
The messages inside the "noscript" tags is being displayed automatically by your BROWSER (not elxis or newsletter) when javascript is turned off.
3. If you don't like this message to be displayed just open components/com_newseltter/newsletter.html.php and simple delete this line (line 28). It is just simple.

Alternative solution (better):
Don't delete the "noscript" line but open components/com_newseltter/css/newsletter.css
go to line 108: display: block; and delete it (this is the reason why you see the message with opera).

4. Our recommendation for Firefox is for the Elxis administration area and is addressed to web site admins. We can not force your site visitors to use firefox. My personal opinion is that Opera is a very good browser but (sorry) firefox is the best. The layout and style of front-end area is controlled by your template, not elxis. Elxis just generates html, it does not style it.

If this, a no importance issue, was the biggest elxis turn off, then I am very happy. This means that Elxis is perfect!

my friend dennis you can hot-fix your elxis-newslleters and you can disable javascript on your browsers....
you and all your visitors..

then you and your users will be happy! very happy indeed!

you an they, will be able to browse only elxis and 10 other sites out there!

Your next movement will be to persuade the all planet to  clear up all javascripts in order to view their sites!

javascript is by default enabled in all browsers i know.. if someone disabled it.. he knows how to enable it again!
