New CONNECTION.gr is UP!

I would like to announce the upgrade and remake of my personal web site www.connection.gr  - Now, it’s more of a… blog style site.

It is based on Elxis CMS 2009.0 and the template is a re-design of «El green template» (!!!). I hope you like the new remake of that template. Sorry guys the site is only in Greek.


Beyond the other default Elxis CMS components, I also used:

1) eBlog component. 2 blogs are functioning, for the published content (text and videos) Comments on blog posts are allowed to everyone, without any registration (till now).

2) Thanks to datahell, there is an option to share a blog post with your friends, on other socializing networks (facebook, twitter, myspace exc). This option is a hack on eblog concerning some other script, so I can provide this option. For this hack I will write a small help, for Elxis Wiki.

3) KL RSS Feed bot, for the «News Feeds» area.

4) Doctor Cloud module for the tag clouds.

5) Lastly, the  site is powered also by a «Fan Page» on facebook.


The site was tested with Mozilla Firefox 3.5 – Google Chrome 2.0 and Internet Explorer 8. It’s time to help the world, wake up. If anyone is using older versions than those mentioned above and is facing problems… plz upgrade your browser and be updated! 

Lastly, I must say that, this discussion https://forum.elxis.org/index.php?topic=3770.0 is about Connection.gr. I can’t assign an image in «About Connection» (autonomous page) as I have done in Web links page, contact page exc.

Simple. 

1) Created a Blog from Components/Elxis Blog/New

2) And afterwards, for the menu item i selected eBlog Item (type). And that's my homepage.

Spiros, I think you have to do something with the top area of the site. The image on the right is nice but the white background colour and the logo do not look nice. The red horizontal menu is like splitting the site in 2 parts. I think if you had a differrent than white background colour for the top area it would be better.

Hmm! Any idea?  Maybe if i change the site's background (on the right n' left) to something more dark... it will show better?

The white top area should be somehow unify with the horizontal menu. Also the menu is too common, I think it needs a more unique design. Keep the image on the right, it is very nice.

Something else: make the eblog posts titles links or change the colour of the "Link Άρθρου" link as it is not clear that it is a link to the detailed page of the post.

And one more: Remove the pathway.

I asked in the forum, how can i make the eblog titles > links, but no one knew how.

Hmm... yes, it is not supported. I guess we must add this feature to elxis. Here is how you can do it:

Open components/com_eblog/eblog.html.php
Go to line 169
Change this:
<h3 class="eblog-posttitle"><?php echo $row->title; ?></h3>
to this:
<h3 class="eblog-posttitle"><a href="<?php echo $link; ?>" title="<?php echo $row->title; ?>"><?php echo $row->title; ?></a></h3>

To style the link add a h3.eblog-posttitle a { ... } rule on components/com_eblog/css/eblog.css file (and on eblog-rtl.css if you have RTL languages published).

if i Change this:

instead of this (your previous suggestion)

it ruins underneath the Article's link and the Comment link with it's image.

Also, i have a h3.eblog-posttitle rule in eblog.css  but i see no change!
