the Elxis CMS is freaking awesome. I love it.

Second...that actual help questions.

Q #1: How or where do I change the php file or file that contains the coding for where I can change the "written by:" to  "posted by:"

for example:

Written by "name"

Q #2: I am having trouble in getting the "newsletter" mod working. The problem I am having is that when I create a template the system will not send it. I am having trouble figuring out how to send it. Can anyone assist.

You mean IOS Newsletter component ?

You can make a copy from Banners module and set the new settings and make it's position in another position except the first
You can make unlimited copy of any modules and any of them can have different settings than other

And yes the IOS newsletter component. I put out a monthly pdf file and I was hoping I could make things simpler by using this component. It seems like a great Idea but can't seem to get it to work.

Also is there a newsletter template out there I can edit or use?

1 -start from the configuration page in administration>>components>>ios newsletters

2 - basically you need to import users from a)an outside text file  b) internally import elxis existing users
  c)add by hand one by one -this is possible from the subscribers section -
3 -make a newsletter message -newsletter section-

4- sent the message from -newsletter section-

5- you can have a menu-link to ios newsletters in your page (if wanted) test it to see what is showing

6- emal-tpl  you can find a lot out there free or not.. google it !

but there is no need... as you can sent  html messages with this smart tinymce editor with no html knowledge at all.

start from this points and ask if you don't understand something!

PS. Also you must know that elxis can modify lang-files from the administration area>>site>>language manager

I am trying to send the generic newsletter to my email but am still having issues

I click on send newsletter, a pop-up shows but nothing happens

actually if you want, I would be willing to allow you back end access to the admin site to see what is going on?

you get a blank popup...

be sure that component is installed correctly and that all permission are correct...
it seems that a javascript can't be executed ...probably permissions problem.

i will suggest to uninstall an reinstall it from the beginning.

then we will see if problem remains...
till now we haven't see such  a problem... none have reported such a problem
so i believe reinstalation will fix it.

are you sure that permisions are set correctly?
what your servers logs say?

that popup should show a status message... even there is an error in the process still ther is a message.
seetings seem to be ok so....
please look apaches error logs

its showing a lot of mambot errors but nothing with the newsletter

perhaps some header scripts not loading so this can make things or functions in admin area not loading  like ajax-java scripts etc.
start exploring and fixing those errors...
in most cases these are permission errors

i have tested ios-newsletters  and founding it working absolutely fine ..
the only notice that i have to make is that

when one-per-recipient is set to yes then Recipients per step must be set to 1
else an error will take place.
