Elxis 5.x
uses HTML5, CSS3 and pure javascript without external libraries such as jQuery?

I am trying to create sub menus

- cat breeds
but I keep getting a square with a red x in it. I dont want a picture. This only happens in Internet Explorer, its fine in Firefox.

I would prefer to see this somehow, but if you don't want bullets just add this line to template_css.css: ul {list-style:none}...

Go to Modules -> Site Modules.
Click on the menu module (i.e. Main Menu).
Scroll down to the parameters.
From the "Indent Image" list box, select: None. The default value is Template.
That will fix your problem.
P.S.
It is not an IE7 specific problem.
You can see it in IE7, because it shows missing images.
In contrast, FF will display nothing if an image is missing.
