Elxis has a serious problem on sharing articles on facebook...

Hi there !

I have to tell you that Elxis has a serious problem on sharing articles with images on facebook....

I made this website with Elxis (www.stifaka.gr), and everytime I am trying to share an article on facebook, all articles have the same image !

I don't know what you have to do guys, but, if this problem still exists, I will need to change platform.

I just checked it in your site and I don't see any problem... I shared 3 different articles and all had different images.

Hi there,

when the pop up windows appears, yes, the normal picture appears,

but, when you press the "Post to Facebook" button, the image is not the same on facebook !

I have checked it so many times !

What is your profile on facebook, so I can check it ?

I have no facebook account, I tested it with a friend's account. I didn't actually posted the article, I just show the preview and looked OK. However I must say that Elxis doesn't submits an image or even text. Elxis only gives facebook to share the URL of the page. The selection of the content and the image is done by facebook.

The preview is ok, but when we post it, there is a problem....

I have checked everything on elxis, and I see no problem at all. My server is ok, too.

This problem started with the new facebook version.

I hope I will find the solution soon or later...

I did some research. First I found this page to debug facebook sharing tool:

I checked some URLs from your site and they all look fine. However I read that facebook needs "og:xxxx" meta tags to work correctly. To help you I will develop a plugin that will add these tags automatically. You will only need to have the latest Elxis 5.1 release (rev2352) in order for the plugin to work. I will reply back later when the plugin will be ready.

The plugin is ready, download and install it. If you have the latest Elxis version you don't have to integrate it into the articles via the editor, else you have to do that for each article. So, in case you have an older Elxis update it! The plugin works for content articles and Open Shop products. It wont fix the wrong images on already shared articles but it will help Facebook to assign the correct image on new shares. Also it will provide to Facebook more information than the image.

Hello,

At my articles usually at the beggining i include a plugin (eg <code>{adinline}{/adinline}</code>).

In this situation the og:description tag shows that too eg <meta property="og:description" content="{adinline}{/adinline}mpla mpla mpla mpla..." />

Can we clear this?

Just to let people know - if you have this plugin installed but FB is still pulling an incorrect image for an article - that is because it has previously cached an image prior to installing this module. You can update the info. FB has cached on any article by using the Debug tool:
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ - clicking SCRAPE AGAIN
Sometimes you have to click it a few times. That is a FB issue - not Elxis.
