Hello all,
I am trying to create a place holder for categories with some text and a
read more
but I have not found an example of how to use the elinks in the docs to do this.
https://www.elxis.net/docs/using-elxis/extending/preinstalled-content-plugins.html
#3 elxis links.
Can you provide 2 examples, such as:
to show a category with some way of limiting text, and
to show a particular content item with some way of limiting text?

Okay, I'm guessing that this has to do with the templates docs that you guys are working on.
The reason I ask is that I have a template that I have managed to convert but the front page of the template is missing some parameter info.

You can
use
or
develop
a [new] module for that purpose, Xmanhattan. As i remember
Super Articles
module give you the option of showing a limited - particular (by ID) content items.
Content Items, autonomous pages, content categories etc has to do with the component: Content.

I have installed Super Articles but as I want to have 3 columns of intros for the front page as in this image, I guess that I should copy the module another 2 times?

the superaticles module support max 6 column for unlimited articles and categories.
example
if u want display 6 intro of articles or category descriptions, u can:
select 6 column ---> in this case the intros will be showed all in one one row.
select 3 column ---> in this case u'll have 3 column on two rows
is not necessarily to copy the module.
http://elxis4.elxisitalia.com/applestyle
(in front page superarticle modules display 4 articles by id in two columns on two rows)
copy the module if u want display a short intro of one or more categories description plus intros of one or more articles in the same page.
example
http://www.superiorhone.co.uk
I used in front page three superarticle modules:
one to display only the rapresentative category images
two modules under the first to display only the article titles contents in the two categories ... impossble to do using only one module (display the titles under every rapresentative category images.
the great thing the module gives to u is limit the text by max n characters, limit the text to first full stop or break line (br) or display the first paragraph (<p>
bla bla bla
</p><p>ah ah ah ah........</p>)

Sorry for not answering sooner.
Looking at Speck's applestyle layout, where it displays Mod pos. User 2, Mod pos. User 3, Mod pos. User 4 is what I am looking to do.
So I am guessing that I would have to copy the module 3 times to assign it the 3 positions.
I am still working out the bugs on converting the template.
Thanks to all for the help.
