We already released a private 4.0 alpha version to a limited number of people. Currently we built the 4.0 beta version which will be available in about a month. This version will be public but not marked as "stable". After some time (a month or so) and maybe bugs fixes and possible small improvements we will release the first stable version on september 2012.

Personally, even if old Elxis releases had their origins from Mambo, I've never been satisfied by NONE of other CMSs out there. And I tested out HUNDREDS! So, Developers behind Elxis are great and they exactly know what they are doing and why.

I will never say that Elxis is the best* CMS in the world, or suitable for all cases and users.
It is better than other systems in some areas, maybe worst than others in some other areas, or it may misses some features someone may need.
The fact is, and this is what I mostly care about, that Elxis has a unique spirit.
Elxis 4.0 is the result of 2 years hard work. I must confess that I still can't believe we managed to complete such a huge project just a few people.
We are proud for Elxis 4.0, and we hope people will love it.

Those are very humbling words, and it is this attitude that make Elxis a great project and community so unique.

Tried local installation , but after the final step , error "Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'PDOException' with message 'SQLSTATE[HY093]: Invalid parameter number: number of bound variables does not match number of tokens' in C:\wamp\www\includes\libraries\elxis\database\statement.class.php on line 41"

is there a .htaccess in your folder?

I have removed the old files and add the new versions. There is no .htaccess to the zip but i tried to rename the htaccess.txt to .htaccess and it is still not working

I'm having the same issue, 500 Error.  I tried changing settings and all, but still does not work

I guess you get an error because of a wrong redirection.
I will test the installer once more online. Please wait for my reply.
