newsletter for elxis, using phplist

Hello to all of you,
this is my 1st post to elxis forum
I have created an elxis site locally and i wish to use a newsletter service for my users, but the relative component which exists already in elxis does not cover my needs, because i want to give the possibility to my subscribers to choose categories they wish to get newsletter.
Looking for an open source solution, i found and used phplist (
http://www.phplist.com/
).
The best could be if i could create a component for elxis with this, but i am not ready for this yet.
However, I would like to use phplist backend administration into backend elxis administration console , and i suppose that by Tools i could incorporate it.
(the idea is to use only one backend admin console and not 2 separated (elxis and phplist)
My question is how could i utilise it better?
thanks
p.s. congratulations for the great job creating Elxis CMS

phplist is huge ...
it is very good .. i have used it .. it is really good
2 or 3 pages are really needed to your subscribers .... and can very easily integrate in any site
as for the admin console personally i find it useless and
difficult
to build
phplist as component
of elxis... you see it is a complete and
standalone software
you have to
redesign phplist
... the problem is not elxis but phplist!

Hi and thanks for the fast reply
Ok, suppose that i don't integrate phplist as component to elxis (not easy)
However do you believe it would be possible to incorporate phplist backend administration into the elxis administration console using "Tools"?
How did you use it? Did you use it as complete standalone software ?

standalone...
one installation for 6 different sites.... for each list(one for every site) i used a different phplist-tpl in order to much site's look....
you see phplist is an autonomous system that can manage various lists even thousands even for different sites
it works rather as global newslleter-central-system than a small plugin(component etc..)
***
any integration to administration of elxis(or any other) is a little bit difficult.... personally i find it useless!

You dont have to create any component. You install phplist as a standalone application hidden somewhere in your site. The only thing you need to display in Elxis is a form for users to register to newsletter. So, you have to build a module.

So, you have to build a module.
it is only a copy-paste... as phplist already provides integration code for user subscriptions
