Mail not being sent... [SOLVED]
«

Hi,
I was given this setup to create a site on. Its hosted by TopHost (
), and the mail they are using is gmail. They are using their domain with google apps. So their email info@domain.gr goes to gmail.
Now the path to sendmail is: Path to sendmail /usr/bin/formail -f -u from -R bcc X-Removed-BCC -A 'X-Processed-By: formail at linux137' | /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i
I tried all options in general settings with no luck.
Also tried smtp using smtp.gmail.com and smtp.googlemail.com with no luck.
Any thoughts on how I can get this to work?
thanks

Why are you using their email? Use cpanel to create your own accounts at your host.
Using cpanel, go to mail. Create the accounts that you want. If you want to forward the mail to gmail, then go to Forwarding, enter the accounts that you want to forward and the gmail account and that's it.

yes I know. Just that I did not do this and it was given to me as is.
They created the emails with google apps so that they use their domain name.
How do I fix this? Can't sendmail work to send email to any address? Or do I need to setup at least one email account in cpanel before this starts working.

If you took over the account for someone, then it is to your advantage to make a little money.
As for the email account, it is easier to use a pop mail account. Setup you email acct using cpanel and then you can forward the emails to any account.

OK created an email account in the host cpanel. Not working
OK here is what's happening.
I created the email mail@linaria.gr at the host cpanel and forward the mail to info@linaria.gr
The problem is that info@linaria.gr is not setup in the host cpanel. It's setup with google apps and you access it through gmail.
Now I don't have access to the google apps control panel to see whats going on because I did not set it up.
But shouldn't Elxis mail work no matter what email we use as a sender?

Normally after you create an email account using cpanel, you should be able to use the following info:
email acct: info@linaria.gr
password: whatever
server incoming: mail.linaria.gr sometimes requires port 25
server outgoing: mail.linaria.gr sometimes requires port 26
In the global configuration under mail, you do not have to set the SMTP info normally if you are using the php mail function setting.
If you wish to then use the info like that above and set the Mailer to SMTP server.
The SMTP user is info@linaria.gr in your case.
The SMTP host is either localhost or the domain name, linaria.gr in your case.
As far as what you say about the email account going through google apps, I don't know about that. I would do that anyway because it is just as simple to forward emails to another account through cpanel. I think that if your client is using google mail then he/she might be getting it through the google mail options to receive pop mail from another account.
As a simple test just send an email to yourself from the website.

Dear Roubos
As i see from your topic, the problem you face is a mater of your hosting company to resolve and not an Elxis one, even Peter tried to help you. So your hosting company which as i saw is written on their logo "extreme support" is obliged to help you to resolve your e-mails problem, if you ask for their support.

Well after speaking to tophost support, they disabled mail for this domain since google apps is used and it works fine now.
It was all caused by google apps
thank you all for the help.
