Cannot login in Admin Area

I first intalled elxis and gave me this problem, and then reinstalled it thinking I did something wrong but have the same problem.

I disabled firewall and everything, althought I´m using a local installation with xamp.

I´m sure I´m using the admin user with the right password.

Please help

Hello Ganchor4,

one possible reason could be that you logged in using the login form
on the frontsite of your page. You have to use the "Administrator"-Link
in the menu or directly call "http:// ...elxis/administrator/". There is a
separate login-form for the backend.
maybe that helps ...

If you have zone alarm, norton internet security or something similar, deactivate them (or set the privacy options) and retry.

According to our knowledge, what datahell has described is the number 1 reason for this kind of problematic behaviour.

Hi there!
   I'm having the same problem that ganchor4 has.. cannot login to de Administrator..

   I don't have zone alarm, norton internet security or something similar, just a simple antivirus which I deactivated, but I still keep receiving the message: "Use a valid username and password to gain access to the administration console".  I'm sure the password is right (copied and pasted it from the installation information to a txt file).

   Is there somethig else I can try ??

Hi sp_spongebob,

Try these:

- Clear all cookies
- Edit the elx_users table and change the password. You will need access to an MD5 calculator like that http://www.fileformat.info/tool/hash.htm. Type the password on "Target text" and press the Hash button. Then copy the "MD5" value from the table bellow to the password field. Use the text you entered on Target text as the pasword, not the calculated hash.
- If everything else fails try to reinstall Elxis.

    I've done as you've said (delete cookies + update administrator's password with MD5 value), but it didn´t work.. so I reinstalled Elxis (Linux Environment), closed the antivirus and deleted cookies again. But it did't work either Keep getting the same error message...

    I don't know what to do.. If there's something else I can try please let me know. Sorry for bothering you

Sad to hear that you haven't yet managed to enter administration area...

Just a couple of questions, as this is really strange behaviour.

Are you using latin characters for password and username? (Use latin characters and use only characters or numbers, not symbols. Normally it has no difference, but let us try it this way also).

What browser are you using?

What OS?

Is it a local or an online installation?

If you wish send me your site url, ftp username/password and access to your mysql database (control panel if exist) to fix it for you. It is a easy to fix problem but the reasons why this happens varries alot. So I need to see it inorder to tell you why this is happening.

    I'm using latin characters for user and password. Just the data the application provided when I installed it, I haven't changed the password.

    Browsers:

     OS:
              * Microsoft Windows 2000 5.00.2195 - Service Pack 4

     It's an online installation on:
               * Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) Debian GNU/Linux PHP/4.4.2
