pre-installation check
«
on:

Hi,
trying to install Elxis 2009.1 and getting two red notes on the pre-installation check.
one is the following:
ELXIS WARNING: There is no Timezone indentifier defined!
You must set the proper timezone in php.ini. Example: date.timezone = "Europe/Athens"
Elxis set timezone to Europe/Helsinki
I asked the service provider and I was told their server has the right timezone set.
and the other is this:
Session save path / var/ lib/ php/ session (Unwritable)
How do I go about correcting these?
Also the PHP short open tag is set to ON (red):
Short Open tag: Off On
thanks in advance.

If you don't have SSH you must ask your server admin to fix this warnings.

still worrying why you don't read the links i past above
what do you think that ssh will do? probably you are in a vps .... if so , you have not access to the server's php.ini....
you can only work inside your user-folder.... you can do all you need with cpanel and or ftp...
unless you want to learn and write command-line commands in order to add-edit files in your user-folder...

sorry,
I'm reading the wiki pages, and the alternative method of applying settings.
through the plesk control panel, I have access to the .htaccess file, but not permission to edit it.
So I'm contacting the service provider to make the changes for me.

there is a .htaccess file above the httpdocs/ folder but I dont have permissions to it.
I see it through the Plesk Control Panel File Manager.
I've FTPed the Elxis files and there is no .htaccess file in the elxis directory. just a htaccess.txt

it is sure that you have not access above /htdocs.. thats sure...
rename htaccess.txt in elxis dir to => .htaccess notice the [.] infront of the htaccess
then you can edit- add those settings from the wiki above existent contents in this .htaccess (becareful not to delete existent contents)
this the dir you have to work =-> your elxis dir...
