Elxis 2009.1 - PHP 5.3 magic_quotes_gpc

My server throws the following: PHP Warning: Directive 'magic_quotes_gpc' is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater.  Is magic_quotes_gpc still necessary for Elxis 2009.1?
