How to make a series of BRIEF NEWS at a Special Section of 1st page ? (SOLVED)

if you think that makes problems or not working as you expected this or any other extension you can simply unistall..

(That's why we didn't want just to .."try", this or that, without sufficient, sure and clear Info. It can provoke damages and an awfull waste of precious TIME !)

lets find a solution to your supposed damages!

1-unistall ucd  if you think that damages on fits you
2-replace again module_frontpage files or what ever files with the originals(if you had overwrite some..only if)

i think that you can afford 2-3 minutes waist of time to do these ... aren't you!

if you decide you want to try ucd you have to spend some time to explore how it works... only you know if this fits your needs
it has many option so you need to spend some time before decide if it is what you need.
the same happens with any other module component or elxis it's self

there are many choices and ways to achieve the same thing ... so time is needed!

lets give an example how to select content to display and from where IDs are pulled out (the ids you inserted probably wrong)
example:
Content source type:content item
Content source IDs (required): 11,17,21
Ordering:ordering

this will display certain contain items with the order we have assigned in content manager .. not by date ore title

Again : OK. it's done !

=> To put "Brief News" in a desired order, it's better to create a new Section and, inside it, a new Category, which takes automatically by Elxis an ID number, (f.ex. 15).

In the UCD Module, choose : "Category" as "Content Source TYPE", and its specific ID number (fex. 15) as "Content Source ID".

If you have chosen for the UCD Module to show the Brief News' content in the order f.ex. of the "most recent first", then it will display them according to their Dates.

(NDLR : We did, at first, as you advised about the "Ordering" choice of display, guessing as you did, but, it doesn't show the News according to their "ID" numbers : only with their "Order" numbers, which are differend. Thus we simplified by using the above mentioned way).

In fact, it was easy, and apparently it works well.

But we had to waste HOURS to find out something which could have been done fast and simple, if there was a full Guide-Book for Elxis.

exactly .. by order, ids used to identify contents cats sections not for ordering...

-in my example symptomatically ids and listing order matched ... if i use blue arrows the ucd will display the new order
- no matter the order you insert ids in ucd  that never play a role!

i am happy that you find your own way ... and you will find more.. be sure! ucd can give at least 10 ways more displaying content.

only needs time to explore your tools!
