I collected some Q & A on Stargallery, since I didn't find something similar in the forum, it will be faster to get info. Please note, I am not sure all the answer are here, I just collected from this section.

Attention:
StarGallery is compatible only with Elxis CMS. It does n't work at all with either Mambo or Joomla.

Does it store the images in the DataBase or in the HD of my server?

Star Gallery stores images using the file system, not db.

Now, I can't edit stargallery.php and stargallery.html.php because it seems php writes as nobody and I don't belong in that group, so i get a permissions deny. Should I contact the admin?

Elxis has a Tool for this!

Administration -> Tools -> Change mode

Change mode to star gallery's folder and then wanted files. Update them and then change mode back to the original (for security).

Notice: You also may have to enable FTP access over files from Elxis global configuration if you still can not change mode.

I install the the component as it explain the website. But I didn't find the component stargallery in the list of component. Is it normal?

If you can't find Start Gallery in the list of components then it has not been installed properly. I suggest to try again the installation.
After a proper installation, you will be able to display Star Gallery on your Elxis site, by creating a new menu item of type "component" and selecting Star Gallery as the component used.

Star Gallery is a component.
You should go to Components -> Install/Uninstall

Also please check that the following directories are writable:
tmpr
administrator/components
components
images/stories

Also please try to rename the file com_stargallery_1[1].7.zip to com_stargallery_1.7.zip prior using it.

What to do if:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 55296 bytes) in /home/matthew/www/enginuity-design.com/includes/adodb/adodb-datadict.inc.php on line 140

set the gloabal ini.php to:
memory_limit=16M;

Can I manage StarGallery from the front end?
Yes you can manage pictures from frontend! But a user is not allowed to create categories from frontend. You must first create the categories from the administration panel.

I have problem with frontend management too when i upload picture from frontend system cant creat thumbnail for it any idea ?

This problem occurs when you upload a .gif file. Change the file to .jpg and it will work fine.

I can't get star gallery on front page.
Component installed properly. I created new categories and put out some pictures. I check everything - settings, components, mambots... but still can't get star gallery on front page. What i did wrong???

Create a menu item (of type component) to link to Star Gallery.

If anyone that post a question on StarGallery after he/she has the answer will make a post here we will collect some useful faqs and I guess it's a nice way for non programmer to say thanks to Elxis Team and try to help them at least in the forum.

Hi, I have problem with install this gallery.

Elxis 2008.0

I have two account: First vplug.domain.com and work just fine, and domain/doctor the install did not work, in the install proces have 8 points to do with my Elxis, do for 2 first point and then stop the install. Did somebody know why?

Is there a possibility to treat the Stargallery categories like Elxis categories and make direct links to different categories of Stargallery?

 As an example, I have 2 Stargallery categories in the following hierarchy;

"Somebodys Name"
 |
 |- "Someones project"

and I would like to have an Exils link linking directly to the subcategory.  Is this possible?

Yes, you can create link to component stargallery, then navigate to category you want. Then copy this url from your browser, create link of type URL, and paste copied link. After you save it, you can delete link to component from your menu and leave just a link that points to the category.
