Could not connect to database[SOLVED]

Hello,

I am trying to run through the installer but keep on getting the following error
"Could not connect to the database"

I have double checked setttings and can confirm I CAN connect to the database from the shell and phpMyadmin using same credentials.

Server is running mysql 5.0.45

I have also checked that utf character set as well as utf8_general_ci_collation are both set.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi and welcome to Elxis. Many different things can be responsible for the message u get. Right now i can come up with these:

- During the installation, under database path don't put anything. Leave it empty.
- Make sure the user you created for your Database has ALL/FULL privileges on that Database.

Thanks for the welcome and prompt reply. It turned out that my webserver (apache) had lost permission to access the MYSQL server - really weird.
Anyhow ran a GRANT statement and all a-ok now
