Elxis 2008.1 question

Hello all,
First, congratulations on the release of 2008.1.
I installed elxis on my local server as a test and replaced 2008.0 with 2008.1 but that failed, sorry I didn't write down the error but after I checked the drop database box and continued it installed and worked properly.
Is there a way to upgrade without loosing previous work and data?
Also, tried to install a mod and received the following error msg.
Unrecoverable Error "PCLZIP_ERR_READ_OPEN_FAIL (-2)"
I am not sure if this is because the previous modules were not deleted.
I like the new work regarding the blog and also the ability for registered users to have their own.
Do new menu items have to be created for each user by the user or by the admin?
Where does a user add content to the blog?
Is there a short guide for users to use the blog?
Thank you.

1. You should not just replace files. Do a new fresh installation.
2. Upgrading Elxis 2008.0 -> 2008.1 is possible without loosing data, and update tool will be published very soon. It will require only few mouse clicks.
3. Regarding PCLZIP error, it is very likely that your server is not well configured.
Thank you for using Elxis

The zip error was due to the existence of prior extensions in the directory. You were right that this should be installed completely fresh.
Thank you Ivan.
