Any way to view short articles of subcategories on landing page of parent?

is there any way to display the 'short articles' of subcategories on the landing page of the parent category instead of having to click on the text link of a sub-category first?

Hi webgift,
i mean the category page - i.e. if the category is 'publications' : www.example.com/publications/
Say you have three types of publications: books, magazines and graphic novels.
You can view all books by going to that sub-category: www.example.com/publications/books/
and can view all magazines by going to: www.example.com/publications/magazines/
The list is displayed as 'short articles' paginated by 20 items per page.
However, if you wish to view ALL publications - not just books, and not just magazines, you go to:
www.example.com/publications/
but here you only get links to subcategories, you cannot view all publications in a nice list of short articles.
Is it possible for me to make this happen by changing any settings? I cannot figure out how.

Hi again, should i take it this is not possible? I did not want to move all content from the subcategories (and delete the subcategories) for the parent but if it's the only way, I will do this...

Hi again, I have discovered the 'commentary map' module, which achieves what I am looking for to a certain degree. Are there any plans to update this to enable it to be more visually attractive - i.e. to be able to include thumbnail images and intro text? Or is there a way I could enable this myself by altering the code of the module?

Hello @seadhna and sorry for this late response. I got what you've mean and as i remember a good approach of what you want can be done by Category Map module. I don't have something else in my mind right now. A modified version of that module or better a brand new one could give you what you need.

Thanks for responding. I came up with a workaround solution: linking to a search results page of all items in the category ordered by date. So it looks much nicer than the category map but effectively performs the same function (of course the search results are not segmented by subcategory but in my case, this is not actually required).
