Cannot install components :( [SOLVED]
«

Been trying to install a gallery component to my site with no luck. (I also have a thread on the General forum but thought I also try here)..
I tried installing from EDC but got the following error:
Installation file not found:
/var/www/vhosts/mysite.gr/httpdocs/elxis_site/tmpr/166-1257534029/
Also tried installing from my computer after downloading the zip file. No luck.
I even FTPed the unziped folder onto my elxis site and tried installing from the file.... no luck...
Don't know what else to do. Everything seems to have the right permissions...
If I cannot install these extra components then what?

You should set your ftp server to unmask 022

I don't know how plesk works, I do it with SSH. If you use shared hosting, I guess you will have to ask your hosting provider how to fix your problem.

they use at plesk a secure-system to add permissions that they are very proud of it... they, not users...
once for a friend of mine i had all day to find how it works.. it overrides ftp-clients when set permissions etc.. i don't remember very well the exact steps but i can try to fix your plesk permissions, if you want!
ROUBOS i must say that almost all you posts here in the forum are for errors relative to permissions... you need help! let someone to help you or:
from your side what you have to do is to study plesk and it's documentation, especially on hoew to set permissions!
Ps. cpanel on suphp is one of the best if not the best!

Thank you all for your replies and your help.
I ended up calling the provider and they said that they had it on safe mode for security reasons.
I asked them if they could allow access, and they did. (just for a few hours, but I can also ask again).
So I tried installing and it WORKS
I'm a happy man.
Thank you all again. Been really helpful.
