Could not connect to the database during installation

Could not connect to the database i have no clue whats wrong
Im using easyphp 2.0b1 (php5, mysql 5.0.27 ,apache) and Elxis 2008.0

Check carefuly that the database name, username and password are correct.

Im pretty sure its all correct after going over it about 50 times though mysql gave me a bunch of crap when i tried to set password for the db

First create the database via phpmyadmin then install Elxis.

Problem solved. to anyone thats using mysql that has this same problem, under database path leave it empty. i was putting a path to my database file, it threw me off a little bit because the instructions beside it mentioned putting a path in there so i assumed it also inclided mysql. maybe on the next version they will define it a little more
i ended up creating over 10 extra databases that i dont need because i thought i was doing something wrong when i was configuring them. lol
