armpouniotis , this is very simple , even you can implement it with elxis 2006.4
, you can use Latest News module and set category that you want , and then put this module in any position you want ...
also you can get a copy of it and use another same for other categories , so go and do lots of magic , also i think DATAHELL is David Caperfield and ELIASAN is David Blane

Congratulations on a great CMS
I have been using Joomla for a year now and have now started looking for an alternative especially after a lot of third party developers decided not to support 1.5.
I really like this cms as it has integrated many features which are separate components in Joomla, such as language support, seo, enhanced security such as captcha imaages, and enhanced user management.
One comment on the seo. Will you be adding extra features to seo pro so that certain links/components can have translated urls. I have noticed for example the link for register password does not change when you change to a different language.
For me there two things that would prevent me from changing to elxis 2008 at the moment. Firstly, I use gallery2 on two of my sites and a bridge to that gallery would be excellent and I couldn't comtemplate transferring and setting up all of my images on another gallery. Secondly some form of google/yahoo mapping. Maybe mapping could be integrated into the contacts component.
Keep up the good work!

Thanks for your kind words.
Elxis'
SEO PRO
is a fully expandable system. You can create your own extensions for any component you wish (just one file, very easy creation for a php developer).
The
link for the registration
is no need to be changed as it is a system link (not existing in mambo/joomla) and not related to content! Elxis multi-lingual enviroment is totally something different than i.e. mambelfish. In Elxis a link/page can be available for more than 1 language. System links are available in all languages (you can also change this if you wish - elxis is fully customizable) and page content is automatically displayed to your current language.
There is a commercial
sitemap
component available for Elxis 2008 (and 2006) created by me that also generates google and yahoo sitemaps.
You can create
bridges
for Elxis. Elxis has an integrated bridge system for anything although the bridges finally are not good solution in general and we may remove this feature in the future.

Datahell, I thing so fivecats, meant that he need to add a street / satellite map (from Google / Yahoo Services) inside the contact, and by using the photo as solution, and not a sitemap.

Now I understood, you mean normal map (ie google maps) not site map. I think this is very easy to do. You can do it with a module or a bot. Elxis 2008 allows you to load any module anywhere regardless it's position by calling it's name.
Example:
elxLoadModule('mod_googlemap', -2);
It is very easy to add this line everywhere you wish. I don't find these maps too useful feature for the most of the users but we will see if we integrate this feature in Elxis' core in the next Elxis sub-version (2008.1).

Hi Datahell
Thanks for your replies.
I understand your views about bridges and I will probably look at another gallery option.
I am pleased that you are thinking about adding google maps to contacts as I think that this is a useful option to have if you are a business that has an office such as estate agent, hotel, etc.

Just some further thoughts on seo.
I have noticed with the demo that elxis cms has the same faults as joomla:-
producing the time stamp at the end of the generated html code which has no added value to the page.
generating http headers which have already expired - e.g 'Expires: Mon, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT'
Perhaps you should think of incorporating a joomlatwork patch as standard for elxis -
http://www.joomlatwork.com/products/free_products_for_joomla/sef_patch_joomla.html
which would also give people more control over metatags without having to install patchs or third party components. For example The joomlatwork patch has been downloaded 80000 times, so a lot of users are interested in what the patch has to offer.

The timestamp at the end of the file has it's reason of existence. It is the time of the page generation and I think it is used by search engines. I also think that it has something to do with xhtml. I have nt checked that, I am not sure.
The expired headers forces browser to retrieve the pages from the site and not from their cache.
Elxis SEO PRO generates automatically meta tags. The importance of meta tags contentiously decreases by many search engines. For example, google does not care about meta tags.
Besides these I will check the sef patch. There are sure some things that can be done to improve SEO PRO (i.e. more work on error pages), but I think it is very good and much-much better than the old method. It is a real SEO not a semi-seo as before. We will see how things will go with the first Elxis release and we will do whatever fixes/changes needed at 2008.1.
Thank you fivecats, you information are important to us.
