Title: Elxis - Long Term Project Plan
Post by: striker on July 10, 2022, 01:23:33
Hi Elxis team,

I'm one of those people who never like to use Wordpress because it doesn't fit my needs in terms of performance reliability among many others. I settled using b2evolution, Elxis, dotclear, etc. Sadly, b2evolution CMS has come to its official end of life and no more future plans of releasing new version. 70% of my websites are running in b2evolution and since Elxis is next CMS I've been using since 2013, I am now switching almost all of my websites to Elxis.

Question: Is there a long term roadmap for Elxis? I don't want to be stuck and left again on my own when suddenly the developer will ask the community to fork the project since it will come to end of life :(

Welcome @striker to the Elxis community.
Elxis is a free and open source CMS as you're absolutely free to choose the software to continue with your projects but who can predict or guarantee the future for you or anyone else?

There is no plan to end Elxis project. However, as Webgift mentioned, no-one can guarantee that something will exist tomorrow. Even Microsoft might stop Windows, Google might stop gmail, google maps, etc. But what we can tell for sure is that we have no plans to end the project and the development continues no matter how many downloads and active users we have (because we don't care about downloads, we don't want to conquer the world). Currently version 5.4 is under development.

Welcome @striker to the Elxis community.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Also, I've been here since 2014 :)

I appreciate the response and for being critically honest on how you look at the future with some uncertainties.

So, I made my final decision. Started to transition all of my remaining domains to run on Elxis CMS.  8)
