Title: Submit Article for Authors
Post by: Coldy on January 10, 2014, 19:24:18
Hello!
I play around with Elxis 4 and have one question about the permissions for groups.
The Publisher-Group have Access-Level 50 but have no rights to submit News.
I've also changed some privilegs for this group, but no chance to log into the ACP.
But when i set it to 70, there are to much Rights in the ACP.  :o

I'll only set the Rights to submit News, not more. :'(

My idea was, to create a new group with access-level 70 and deactivate all Sections, that are not allowed for the publisher.
But this is a very extensive work.
Have anyone a other simple and faster tip for me?
Thank you!  :)

In order to access the ACP you need access level of at least 70.
Dont allow people you dont trust to access ACP.
Permissions are not only for the built in extensions, but for everything.
One can develop a component where users with a specified access level (for example above 10) can submit articles. So the built-in "Publisher" is an example of such group. Publisher is not built to access ACP, only managers and administrations can do so.

Also if you think managers have too many permissions you can limit them. By setting the access level, for example for a module, to the "manage" action to something above 70 then logged in managers wont be able to manage it. You can also disable access to the whole component "Extensions manager". And in general do what ever you want.

Th difference with the old Elxis 2009.x is that in Elxis 4.x you don't have the option to submit articles from front-end. If you had this option you wouldn't have a problem doing this. Most probably we will never add this option in Elxis 4.x main release because we want it to be extremely secure. But this is not an Elxis 4.x limitation, Elxis 4.x is much more powerful than Elxis 2009.x. This is a limitation we selected to add on purpose.

Third party extensions may allow posting from front-end. IOSR Hotels for example has a front-end interface for Hoteliers. Also I am currently develop a micro-blog component (https://forum.elxis.org/index.php?topic=7990.0) for posting from front-end called Mikro.
