Hello Sir,
I download 4.1 elxis and try to install . I have built MYSQL already. When i finish third step with filling mysql and path etc.
The pages go back to first page..
I got below reminding info.
Repository is in its default location!
/hsphere/local/home/a878929/ningbocitie.com/repository/
Pls kindly help me.
I am not familiar with php +mysql.

It is a securiry warning which you can ignore.
Folder "repository" can be renamed (read more (https://www.elxis.net/docs/using-elxis/getting-started/filesystem-structure.html)) to something not predictable.
Continue the installation without renaming folder repository (you can do that any time later) and ignore related warnings.

Thanks for your reply.
But my problem is:
-I didn't changet anything about this directory, i filled all in 3rd step. But it goes back to first page.
-then i change move the directory and change the name and get absolute path, then filled in third step, again, it will go back to first page, sometimes, it will go back blank pages.
Is there anyting to change before installation?

I guess it is not repository your problem but something with the database. Is mysql PDO available in your server? Can you show me a link?

i full database as below:
Type: mysql
host: it is given by ixwebhosting
port:3306
name:i creat
table prefix: elx_
username:
password:
DSN:BLANK
SCHEME: BLANK
And it shows the database setting are correct.
I didn't use FTP. SO SET NO.
I put REPOSITORY WITH: /hsphere/local/home/a878929/ningbocitie.com/repository/
I am not sure where i need to change before installation ..
pls help further.

The database name is "i creat"? with space inside? If yes, it is wrong, you should not use spaces in db names.
Also I believe you also provide a proper username/password for connecting to the database (don't write it in public!) and that user has privileges to create tables on the chosen database.

But database name is no problem.
"i creat " means i creat database name . i didn't show you. it is without space. And also i shows the database is correct.
Should i change any other file ? like php.ini or .htacess?

2 issues were found here.
1. Wrong host of database connection. In your case we must use a different than localhost (more information in private area)
2. Database's user didn't have all of the proper privileges.

My website existing Version 3.6 and 2009.x.
Is it ok for me to keep using the existing instead of re-installing Elxis 4.x?
I really wanted to upgrade to the newest version but afraid something goes wrong if I do it myself. So, I asks more than 10 local IT company/ PHP/ mySQL expert to help me upgrade this and I find no one.
Please advise! Thank you.

3.6 means you use IOS Reservations 3.6? If yes, then you should not use Elxis 4.x as IOSR 3.x works only with Elxis 2009.x
Soon IOSR 4.x will become available for Elxis 4.x. When IOSR 4.x is released you can install Elxis 4.x with IOSR 4.x.

This same error I found in latest Elxis installation in two servers. When I finished all steps without complication Elxis moved from 5. step to 1. step after clicking on Visit new installed page.
I made new installation without changing to .htaccess and installation finished without any problem.
My question is. May I rename now after installation htaccess.txt to .htaccess ?
Actually I had a lot of troubles in past with this same installation. I posted here day before forum crashed but my post disappeared. In previous installations I can finished but when main site need to come up to screen there simply was white. Some browsers show text server error. I made more and instead Elxis I installed Joomla. It wont install without uploading ini.php. There also has been needed htaccess renaming. But after installation screen become white as on Elxis.
I went longer and try third cms. It is CNS named 107 I think, build in server installation direct. There wasn"t any problem. I still believe there on servers and php my sql is something Elxis and Joomla can"t handle very easy.

Hi Andres,
We have already discussed it in private what is going on with your server. I repeat it's not a CMS issue. When i had helped you to install elxis i didn't face any issue at all. I have also advised you what to do.

Elxis installation is straight forward and very simple. The process takes no more than 30 seconds and completes without warnings for the 99.5% of the sites. If your server doesn't support mod_rewrite or doesn't allow overwriting rules via htaccess you should contact your hosting provider for support or don't enable SEF URLs. You can any time later do that.
The rename/move of the repository folder is NOT REQUIRED but RECOMMENDED. I guess you understand the difference between these 2. If this causes you headache leave it in its default place, Elxis is secure in any way, and you can also do this rename/move later at any time.
