Title: Elxis For a joomla user Since V 1.0
Post by: solutionx on October 20, 2012, 01:09:44
Hello Comunity.......i use joomla since version 1.0 and its time to say that ELXIS is far more advanced than Joomla 2.5......the only part has a minus is that there are not so many templates to use......thats an opportunity to start your own template and if its too much you can edit one of the existing.

Guys from the first time i used ELXIS i could say that is stable faster more secure.......and better than Joomla. And dont forget i use Joomla from the first day it was released..

Good work and keep on going to the new version.

Thanks for your kind words.

Elxis has a much smaller community than joomla and this is why there are not so many extensions. This is normal and we know that we will never reach joomla in this area. But we don't care about it! We focus on people that search for something different, better and smarter. On people that can close their ears to the sirens and evaluate Elxis fairly. We also try to cover most people needs by releasing useful extensions, at least one of a kind. Also Elxis 4.x is build in a way that needs less third party extensions as the core is able to do more things without the need of additional software. I believe experienced joomla users should try Elxis 4.x even once and do a comparison. Leave third party extensions aside and compare the core of the 2 CMSs. I believe Elxis is not only better, it is a superb CMS. And the more you learn it the more you are able to take the best out of it. So, does it worth to invest on Elxis? We believe yes. If you think Elxis is better or at least, similar to joomla, then why don't you try to create extensions for it? When the Elxis 4.x documentation is released you will be in a better position to see what the new Elxis is able for. Some of its features are unique, we always bring our own fresh ideas in Elxis.

There are many other reasons why Elxis is not so famous as joomla, drupal or wordpress and for all of those it is not a matter of the quality of the software.
I will only report a fact read it carefully, I have never written that before.

We develop Elxis since December 2005. The project is 7 years old (joomla is just 2-3 months older than Elxis). All these years we release open source software and have provided free support and documentation to thousands of users. There are many open source related communities. I will speak for the Greek ones, which I know better. All these years NONE of them contact us. All these years NONE of them written a single article about Elxis. They don't even mention Elxis. Why? Ask them. Open source communities in Greece prefer to translate foreign projects rather than focus on local creative ones. Their open source work is limited to a translation, a paid seminar, or a presentation of a free service some big company or organization provides but they don't see that next to them there is a community that actually develop high end open source software. So, why Elxis is not so famous? It is because the open source, as most people know it, is fake. It is a marketing trick and nothing more. People having the money and the resources channel users to certain paths. Elxis is not a part of the system. We are independent and we are proud for this.

I have to mention at least ellak.gr (http://www.ellak.gr/), visit the site (in Greek sorry) to see by yourself. We have zero promotion, zero help by these guys all these 7 years Elxis exists. And it is not only ellak.

I believe I answered your question.

Welcome solutionx and thanks for your nice comment,
I totally agree of what datahell mentioned above. Here is the point for me: "We focus on people that search for something different, better and smarter."
I don't convict the Greek (and maybe other) mentality (Oh it's Greek open source software then it doesn't deserve a try) but i convict the chance. We didn't have any and i don't know why.
