Title: Marketplace Categpries Link to Parent Section
Post by: Webcrawler on March 26, 2012, 09:21:11
I have not been able to link the MARKETPLACE CATEGORIES to the CONTENT SECTION to display the ads on a webpage. The PARENT FIELD of MARKETPLACE CATEGORIES does not seem to be connected to the CONTENT SECTIONS. The drop down menu for PARENT shows TOP, CATEGORY CONTAINER 1 & 2.  Not sure what CATEGORY CONTAINER MEANS. The ads do appear in the frontend USER CONTROL PANEL. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you!

Check in the categories admin panel the parameter
Has Entry = Yes

Set this parameter Yes if category has ADS.
Set this paramater No if categoriy has not ADS. Usually is better to set no if the category has subcategories

To see how it work make some test.

Hi Speck,

Thank you for your help. I was able to figure it out. I had MENU set to COMPONENT instead of LINK TO COMPONENT.

I understand what CONTAINER means now. Can you explain TYPE and how is TYPE related to the CATEGORIES? Are CATEGORIES only 2 levels deep or can you go deeper? If deeper, how is that achieved? Thanks!

Example:
Type identify the type of your ads

example
sell (who sell auto/moto/bicycle)
search (who search auto/moto/bicycle)
for free (who gift auto/moto/bicycle)

when u create and ads u must specify the type of ads (sell - search - for free) and his category

when the visitor choose a category, u can see all ads, or only sell or search or for free
