Title: eblog problem after update
Post by: xmanhattan on February 19, 2012, 10:46:44
Hello all,

I tried to create a new eblog and after entering the information I clicked on save.  First strange happening was that the page went to the front page rather than to the control panel.  After returning to the control panel, the eblog that I saved was not listed and therefore not saved.
There were no special characters inserted anywhere in the eblog entry.

I updated my site files before this so I am wondering if there has anything to do with it.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I just remembered that I also added the share this post using addthis to my eblog through the eblog component configuration.

I disabled this but I still have the same problem.

Have you used updiag tool, Peter ? I mention that in case that you have something forget to upload by the time of updating elxis.
I use the same version of elxis and i haven't such an issue with eblog component.

Hello webgift,

I checked it using 2009.3 hash to make sure that everything was correct.  It only reported a difference in the configuration file, an index.html file, favicon.ico, and the footer.php that I have made a small change to.

I just downloaded a backup of my sql and checked to see if the last eblog I entered was recorded but it was not.

Also, I downloaded the latest elxis a few days ago and compared the files of the eblog component under /administration and /components and they are exactly the same file sizes.

After checking my files again, I decided to switch browsers to see if FF might be causing the problem.  I tried chrome and opera but still no success.

A summary of what happens:
populate eblog content
click save and front page is loaded
return to eblog control panel
no content is saved

Datahell, if you have a chance please advise what files I should be looking at.

I think that something is going with your server's settings. Updiag tool will have shown if some files doesn't exist or need to be updated. Have you used the softdisk -> update system option ?

Well here is what I have done today:

added to htaccess
Code: [Select]
Options -Indexes +FollowSymLinks
no change to php.ini which has:
Code: [Select]
upload_max_filesize = 10M
post_max_size = 10M
date.timezone = "Europe/Athens"
display_errors = 'Off'
allow_url_fopen = 'Off'
short_open_tag = 'Off'

updiag central displays:
Elxis 2009.3 Stable rev2684 [ Aphrodite ] 23-November-2011 20:55 GMT+2
PHP Version: 5.2.17 (cgi)
Database Version: mysql 5.1.56 (Version: 5.1.56)
security shows a some functions enabled and disabled, but these have been the same since the beginning.

Here is what happened after I added the one line in htaccess but I don't know if this is an effect of that line.
Entered one title and content line of info into a new eblog, hit save and it did it, and it stayed in the eblog control panel area.
Edited the eblog to add the rest of the content, an icon, then hit save, it sent me to the front page again.
Returned to eblog control panel area, edited the eblog and it only showed the original one line saved.

So I really do not understand why this is happening.  The updated files did not include any changes to the sql which means that it should not have this situation.

I logged into the site and updated one of my content pages and the editor worked with no problems and saved the page correctly.

Still shaking my head in wonder.

Finally solved this problem.  While I did update the elxis files in all the directories, I did not update the 2 index files from the root.
I don't know why I did this but I just checked this today and it now works.

Now if I could only guess the next 6 lotto numbers!
