Title: How easy is to convert mambots from joomla to elxis
Post by: aiden11 on April 13, 2011, 00:29:53
I did find a very interesting plugin that will be a great asset to IOS Reservation.
Its a Google map plugin demo can be found herehttp://tech.reumer.net/ (http://tech.reumer.net/)

Was wondering how easy or difficult is to convert to joomla components, modules and mambots for elxis cms?

Thanks

Work on the conversion has already started. You just have to wait for their completion.

See in http://www.elxis-porting.com/

Must be rewritten from scratch  ;D
It's better to start create new.   ;)

I will write once more the official Elxis Team recommendation on this subject.

I have several times warn Elxis users not to use joomla's extensions, converted or not.
The differences between joomla and elxis are huge in core level and there is a strong possibility of opening security holes on your site by installing such software. You should also know that by using even secure joomla extensions (converted or not) on your elxis site you make your site target to hackers that scan the web for joomla exploits. For instance by using an hypothetical converted version of joomla's "virtuemart" on elxis you become a victim of this exploit released just before 3 days:
2011-04-08   Joomla com_virtuemart <= v1.1.7 Blind SQL Injection Exploit
There are hundreds of joomla's extensions with security holes... Even if the original author fix the problem, you wont fix it in your converted version.

I strongly suggest you to build software specifically for elxis and don't use joomla's extensions converted or not.
You follow a wrong path...

Note 1: Elxis Nautilus (4.x) is currently under development. It has nothing common to joomla or even to the current elxis version. You will be amazed by what it can do. The future is there, not in joomla, not in 2009.x. Invest on Elxis future and stop creating EDC's fork sites!

Note 2: All elxis extensions should be listed on EDC. We have created EDC in order to be a central download area where all users will easily find anything. By having one central download location we are sure that users always download the latest version. EDC also serves an other important role: The listed software can be remotely installed directly from within Elxis administration and more over the user can check if there is a newer version available for his installed elxis extensions. In future all extensions will be installed only remotely. Even the elxis updates will be performed live.
