Title: Explorer, FTP, Seo Pro, Home - The page where you try to access does not exist.
Post by: Davide on January 24, 2011, 02:44:09
Goodnight,
unfortunately as title said i have some problem setting FTP access in the global setting of elxis.

Settings FTP
Abilita FTP: No -  SI
Host FTP: lnx.petbooking.it
FTP Username: xxxxxx@aruba.it
FTP Password: xxxxxx
Porta FTP:   21 - default
FTP Root Path: /

In the Italian forum i have posted the same problem because also here in all the users' posts i did not find any solution.
I'm actually using FileZilla and there, there is no problem using the same information as inserted in elxis and above.

I have seen in one thread that if FTp doesn't work the website site could encounter some other kind of problem.
I have also bought the IOS Reservation component and after setting some internal modules I'm seeing in the lower part of the content area the truble message as follow:

The page where you try to access does not exist.
Please choose a page from the main menu.

I have changed in global settings: CHMOD new files and also new folder. That has solved that the server doesn't let create pages for each new articles that i publish, but in Home Page instead of seeing the articles, still the above message.

I read that this could depend in base of if SEO PRO is or not active. I tried to change in Basic SEO and. .. it works!
The problem is that I want SEO PRO, if there is I want it, why should not work??

The site in question is www.petbooking.it plisss you help me too!

p.s.: Also how to fix the enormous problem with Internet Explorer from 5 to the last 8? That's a big problem!

Thanks in advance.

FTP Root Path: /

this is  is more likely  to be something like /public_html   or /web

this must be the folder where your elxis files are.. usually this is one level deeper from where your root dir is...
in filezilla when you first login what dirs you see? and in which dir your elxis is stored... there you should point elxis-ftp

this wrong... elxis-ftp is just a tool to make administrator's work easier... you can even disable it...
site will work as expected... the site does not depend on  ftp!

wrong ... this has nothing to do with pages... is only for folder and files like images that you upload.. not effecting   dynamic-content that is stored in the db!
have you the correct permissions(777) to tmpr and cache folders?

have you rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess?

Thank you for your answer!

ok the FTP will not create other problem. understood. i will check better the path..

If i disable CHMOD immediately when I publish an article also the same that till now I have just published will not shown redirecting to 404. i had set the permission to both folder to 777; Filezilla highlight this information.

I renamed the file into .htaccess automatically at the end of the elxis configuration and from Filezilla i'm seeing it without .txt and the dot before and inside is written morewrite on or similar as is suggested on wiki.

IE Problem:
5/6:
1- template is not set properly, the mayor part of the text (title of some box) appear as not lined with the background (lightblue rounded)
2- in the logo area there's a light blue background as in half box of Newsflashes
3- Some spaces is not respected as in the Destinazioni box, Italy image is convering a little part of the box-title.
4- If i want to use Advance Check Availability it doesn't load the new page but still on the same without doing nothing.
8: before i found one or two things, but now seems is showing well all.

Thanks again for your support.

Please check if your server running on suphp
or suexec+fastgi....

check your php environment:
<?php phpinfo() ; ?>
as we say here -> http://wiki.elxis.org/wiki/PHP_settings
and find the value of Server API

OR
look directly in your administrator>>system>>system information>>system info
and find the value of Web Server to PHP interface|

COMING - BACK

1- i enabled php 5.3.5 .. the other version was 5.2.7.. seems not effecting anything
but elxis is optimized for 5.3.x... you can switch back any time

2- CHMOD files and folders in elxis-admin  -> NEVER.... i disabled  ... let your server to take charge!

3- your server runs fastcgi+suexec   so NEVER chmod files and folders permissions other than 755 files(in your server only)  755 folders..
in your cpanel there is a tool to fix(apply) correct permissions(as server wants) in all you files ... run it from time to time...
what ever people might say never try to upload a php.ini or add php_flag in htaccess  and never chmod  (especially 644) in files/folder...
you will get a nice 504 error!

4- you should had already read ..
http://wiki.elxis.org/wiki/Frontpage_setup
and not deleted all main-menu's links.. if you installed without the default data...then you should follow the suggestion to install it!
so i placed a link in your main menu pointing in ios-res!
i suppose that you want ios-res as the home-page.. if not  ===== read the link above!
note: in main menu always must exist at least one link! the one pointing to your(wanted-home-page)

5- seo pro works fine...as far as i can see...
i made some links and add content-items to check it.. i leave them for you to test-work-around them!
also i assigned  some modules to different pages and positions to see how seo will react with modules and com_frontapage and com_reservation in your home page
i hope you will excuse me!
you can modify as you want later but first give  a look there!

6- ftp just not working as far as i can see.. symlinks --> server-root  might cause this problem.. no need to look more
since you run suexec elxis does not need an ftp-connection at all... it can open and write any file...any time!
so no worry there!

7- if you need to add custom php.ini variables... better contact server-admin and ask...

8- your cpanel  ... never seen something like this... ever before....

9- i do not need any more  access .. you can delete users you made and change your passwords!

10 - i didn't found any problem with not-found items(404)  when i created the test items you see there...
maybe because i made all that checks-fixes above.. who knows..

if you find problem again  we will see then!
