Title: [SOLVED] Elxis on ISPConfig - anyone done it?
Post by: yiannos on February 05, 2007, 15:09:33
Hello ALL,

has anyone installed elxis on an ISPConfig host? Any tips/steps you would like to share? I am about to start such a task and I am wondering whether I should anticipate any big problems.

TIA

ISPConfig is an open source hosting panel application. It provides a management interface and the possibility to manage domains subdomains and sites on apache mysql and php.

More info: http://www.ispconfig.org

It is very useful for ppl. who want to host more than one sites on a server and manage quotas, mail ,accounts, domains etc.

I have installed ISPconfig (on Fedora) in one of the servers I manage. And I use it for more than 2 years. It is a nice and free control panel although it is not cPanel... You will be able to use Elxis under ISPconfig without any special care. Elxis does not interfear with the hosting control panel. Just create the database through the ISPconfig and then install elxis normally.

You can also use Webmin, I think it is better than ISPconfig but not so good looking...

Thanks for your reply. I did what you said and the elxis installation starts as expected.

One problem though:  tried to transfer an older elxis site to an ispconfig site and all I get when I navigate to it is a blank page. Ethereal shows this packet stream (decoded) and all I get on the browser is a blank page:

Code: [Select]
GET / HTTP/1.1
Host: www.testsite.gr
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1
Accept: text/xml,application/xml,application/xhtml+xml,text/html;q=0.9,text/plain;q=0.8,image/png,*/*;q=0.5
Accept-Language: en-us.
Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate
Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7
Keep-Alive: 300
Connection: keep-alive

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Wed, 07 Feb 2007 12:34:54 GMT
Server: Apache/2.0.52 (CentOS)
X-Powered-By: PHP/4.3.9
Content-Length: 0
Connection: close
Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8

Any idea why elxis might react with this behaviour?

Thanks again

Everything is normal. I dont see anything strange here.

I think you have a permissions issue. I can not be 100% sure without seeing your site but check your permissions and specially the permisions of the root folder where you have elxis installed/transfered.

Yes it was a permissions issue. Thank you very much for your help.
