Title: New to Elxis: Module in Elxis vs Module in Joomla
Post by: cfb1972 on October 02, 2010, 08:41:53
Hi Guys, I'm a Joomla user keen to try Elxis and I'm pretty familiar with the back-end interface however, I found difficult to understand how to create a new module of a given type in Elxis.
Let's say I want to place a module type mod_sections on the left side. In Joomla the sequence would be: Module-New-choose module type-asign position (and other parameters). If i do the same in Elxis I mean to try New command it seems that I can create a module of an unknown type. I want to create a module mod_sections let's say. What are the steps in Elxis to do so?

Many thans

In the module list, check the box left by the module name and click Copy from the icon-menu, and that's all!

Thanks, is what I thought.
My question is: are ALL module types listed in the Modul Tab so I can replicate any of them? I mean, the standard installation comes with all module types published to module positions (even they not are active)?

In one word: Yes they are! (I know three words  :P)

Unless of course you deleted one (or unistalled it)...

Thanks anyway.
One more question: top menu. Can it show drop-down sub-menus? I've placed a component under Home (Home>Articles) but when hoovering the mouse on top of Home nothing happenen, I mean I was expecting to see the Articles sub-menu...any idea how this work?

You have to install another menu module. Elxis' default menu is not a drop-down menu...

I use DSmenu (http://www.elxis-downloads.com/el/downloads/menus/3.html) - it also lets you customize its appearance...
