Title: IOS Reservations - Advanced search
Post by: vdr.tuxnet on September 02, 2010, 23:27:53
Hi Mates,

As I can assign custom facilities to a hotel, would it be possible to have this facilities available in the advanced search form ?

Like:

A customer is looking for a room with, Mini bar, Ethernet, sea side view and beach rentals.
He can choose e.g.:

Garden view       : -                      Boot rentals        :  -                 In room Mini Bar   :  X
Scrap yard view  : -                      Sun bed rentals  :  X                 In room Spa         :  -
Sea side view     : X                     Scooter rentals   :  -                  In room Ethernet  :  X

To have this option available, would be absolute great.

Regards

You must edit (hard code) the module.

Hi mates,

You must edit (hard code) the module.

That is the problem, see http://wiki.elxis.org/wiki/IOS_Reservations#License (http://wiki.elxis.org/wiki/IOS_Reservations#License) .

Would Ioannis undertake some custom coding for IOS Reservations or is that feature planed in the future?

Take care

These facilities are hotel specific, not globally accessible. Therefore you can not perform a search based on them addressed to more than 1 hotel.

Hi,

that's a quite bad news :'(

Is there any possibility to have custom fields accessible by the advanced search ?
I would pay for that option.

Everything can be done but I do not do custom jobs/modifications.
You should find an other developer to do this job for you.

Is any way on the search box instead of having a drop down on the location to have a more intelligent one, like they have on venere or booking where you can type for example " P" and will give you a list of locations that do begin with "P" ?

Is any way.......

Yes, there is always a way. As I said, everything can be done.
What you are asking for is called "live" search. I have built something like that for the eForum component.

OK, allow me to rephrase myself  :) will this future be available on the IOSR 3.5 or will it be considered for the future releases?

I already answered you.

These facilities are hotel specific, not globally accessible. Therefore you can not perform a search based on them addressed to more than 1 hotel.

And some more info on the subject.

IOSR works this way as each hotelier should be able to set the hotel facilities independently from the others. Else the facilities would be defined globally by the administrator and the hoteliers would not be able to edit them or add new (just pick yes/no). If you work under single hotel mode it is easy to build a module working as you wish (all you have to do is to build a module). But under multiple hotels mode I have decided to have some things more freely so each hotelier can set up the system as he wishes. Due to these different settings (facilities in our case) the data between the hotels can not be combined in all cases. In different words, a full hotels comparison is not possible.

There are dozens of different "standard" hotel/room facilities and thousands of others that may set by the hoteliers. For instance I might want to create a facility called "barbecue beside pool" or "rooms with view to acropolis" or "aquarium in room" or anything. And there are too many different things the hotels offers. That's why the full comparison is not possible, that's why I have chosen the facilities to be set on hotel level and not globally.

Off course everything can be done but it will be too custom and not portable. I can not include something too custom in the main IOSR distribution. Here comes the third party developers that can create custom solutions for you.
