Title: Sitemap listings for reserved content and SEO
Post by: Luca on August 09, 2010, 14:02:57
Hello,

I noticed that when a content item is set to be access restricted (e.g., by admin only) the sitemap still lists it, letting crawlers get fooled.

I wish to see an option (i.e., in the Parameters tab) to include/exclude the item itself from being listed in the sitemap.
This will be very useful for SEO purposes, as you know how Google is squeamish with 404s, especially if you had said him - by the means of your sitemap - to get there and crawl... :)

Hope this could be done.

Cheers

Luca.

This issue is still actual and it is creating problems for content accessible for registered users only.
The sitemap presented to google includes not public addresses and has to be solved (IMO) as soon as possible....  :)

Looks strange to me. I think that sitemap works fine and does not lists the listings you are not authorized to access.
Maybe you created the sitemap when you were logged in and now you see a cached version.

Do this:
First check the access to the menus items that contains content for registered users. You most probably have a wrong setting there.
If this is not the case logout from elxis. Go to cache folder and delete the sitemap's cache falies.
Now visit the sitemap's URL in order for the sitemap to be re-generated: http://www.example.com/google.xml (SEO PRO URL)
Check the sitemap, still lists content for authorized users?
