Title: cannot install eweather
Post by: sonic on January 12, 2007, 12:32:32
Hello, can someone tell process of installing component for eweather?
I was using standard method of component installation, but result is error, both way.
I try with upload .zip file, it was error,  saids "cannot find some xml file , or something..." ,
next,  I create new folder in elxis/components/   com_eweather, and put all files from this zip file
"com_eweather_1.1.0_elx.zip".
And wha shall I do next?
I dont get it...

Hi,

The first thing I would check was the FTP settings from General Settings. Have you enabled FTP? Are the FTP settings correct?

Next I would check the persmissions for the following directories. They must be writable.
/administrator/components
/components
/tmpr

Finally, I was going to delete everything that I created manually regarding the com_eweather installation, and I would try to perform the installation through the installer.

My front page and most other pages are blow up, content is on the top of all, and I have bunch of errors like this, "HP: tempnam() [function.tempnam]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/tmp) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/www/web9/)"

WARNING(2): /home/www/web9/web/elxis/mambots/content/legacybots.php, line 29
WARNING(2): /home/www/web9/web/elxis/mambots/content/legacybots.php, line 30

and my site is fukt up finally, I really dont know what shall I do now.

I was workin last 5 or 6 days on this site and now is everything fukt up.

I didn't erase anything.

Which one is the correct path?

/home/www/web9/
or
/home/www/web9/web/

One of them is wrong!

Probably you supplied a wrong FTP path.

The only way to correct it now, is to open the configuration.php file with an editor that supports UTF-8 and edit it manually.

Set the $mosConfig_ftp to 0, to disable FTP and save changes.

Now FTP is dissabled.

Login as admin and check your FTP path. Supply the correct one. Save and check your site again.
