First of all, thnx datahell for releasing the new version of sitemap under the CC3 licence!!!!

I have just installed the new version and informed Google Webmasters for the google.xml, but I get this warning:

Code: [Select]

(free translation - hope you get the point)

Code: [Select]
Line State Details
3 Not valid XML character Tag: urlset
The character of this tag is not identified
Correct and repost data.

From 1.6 to 2.0 what to do ? Uninstall and install the latest version ?

- Uninstall any previous version.
- Remove sitemap menu items and empty trash (*).
- Install IOS Sitemap v2.0.
- Make new menu items pointing to the component.
- If you see the old sitemap css style in your site click ctrl+f5 in your browser to refresh its cache.

* The reason for removing the old menu items is because they point to an non-existing component id. (Each component has an id which is different if we re-install it). By creating a new menu item to the new component this id will be refreshed.

Working like a charm!
Installation went smoothly, its public front page seems like a candy store.

Question 1:
The component, generates the link for copy-paste in Google. Is it the same link that I'll pass to yahoo or other search engines? Or just http://thassos4x4.gr/sitemap ? The truth is that most of the traffic comes from google, but others are welcome, too.

Question 2:
How can I selectively exclude one or some of the links of a menu's entry? Let's say, I have home in top menu and home in main menu. Sitemap lists them both.

Notification:
In my local installation (live is ok), Stargallery's entry in main menu is Unpublished, but Stargallery is there.
Sitemap compo sees it is installed (Stargallery) in its front page and it is not displaying any links at http://thassos4x4.gr/sitemap.
All OK.
If I publish Stargallery in main menu, and reload http://thassos4x4.gr/sitemap/, I get a corrupted page, complaining about:
Code: [Select]
URI: index.php?option=com_sitemap&task=sitemap&Itemid=63
Path: /administrator/components/com_sitemap/extensions/stargallery.sitemap.php
Line: 61
Attempt to assign property of non-object
I intend to erase Stargallery, so this is just a notification. Just keep in mind that this happens and use the info if someone needs it.

A big thank you for the CC3 licence!  :D

1. Up to version 1.6 IOS Sitemap also generated a urllist.txt especially for yahoo but now all search engines support the standard XML sitemap. So you can use the same XML sitemap (google.xml) for all search engines.

2. You can n't.

3. StarGallery normally is was built for Elxis 2006.x. I included the extension for those still using it.

Can we have the possibility to separate the content of the sitemap into two pages because is too large ?

No. The sitemap should be in one page and should be easy for the visitor to find something. It might be better to make your sitemap smaller...

BTW, remove the quotes (") from your content items titles. They make the pages XHTML invalid.
