Title: numerous update questions
Post by: xmanhattan on November 28, 2008, 12:28:39
Hello all,

The following is a list of problems that I have recorded after performing the update on my live server.
I have performed the update from elxis_2008.0_Olympus_rev1891.zip to elxis_2008.1_Nemesis_rev2218 including the patches in between.

After looking at the administrator directory, should there be
administrators/components/com_user and com_users?

Checking other files from the elxis_patch_2008.1_r2204_2218, I have noticed after the
updating to 2218, that many files after the update are not equal in either date or size to
the complete package of elxis_2008.1_Nemesis_rev2218.
A question here is, should I unpack the complete elxis_2008.1_Nemesis_rev2218 into my newly updated
elxis to have all the files completely up to date?

Not to do with the update
Visitors online
By chance the other day, as I considered updating the site, I noticed that
there were over 700 visitors online.  Now this would be wonderful if it were true
but after I checked webalizer through cpanel, I verified that this was wrong.
Is this possible due to robots?

Too many questions to answer...
The automatic update script updates Elxis to rev2204. You should also apply manually the patch to revision 2218.
Updiag is not updated with the final release's hashes as we still need to release one final patch for Elxis 2008.1. It is normal if you see around 15 files that needs update. Check that all files exist, maybe some files did not get updated. Take these files from the 2008.1 full package. Updiag has this small error which fixed but the final patch is not yet available. Many visitors online: bad robots, check your logs for continiously site scans and huge bandwidth usage. Ban bad robots using htaccess.

No, don't restore old version. Use the updiag tool and update all needed files except the (about) 15 files I told you about previously.

Regarding sitemap:
You have version 1.3 or older. You have to upgrade to version 1.6.
I sent you the upgrade patch.
