Title: Insert Link in TinyMCE doesn't work with Firefox with Linux
Post by: owl on September 03, 2008, 18:59:27
Hello again,
yes, I found a bug again...  ::) .oO( ain't that great news? *cough*) Every time I'm trying to insert a link via WYSIWYG-Editor with my Linuxsystem and Firefox (in Konqueror TinyMCE is not even partly working), nothing happens, when I'm pushing the 'insert' button, and there is an ErrorMessage in JavaScript-Console:

Error: insertAction is not defined
Sourcefile: http://elxis.dismar.name/mambots/editors/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/advlink/link.htm
Line: 1

Thx in advance ;-)

Best regards,
Sandra

Your link is password protected, if you wanted to show a screenshot, there are other ways of doing it. ;)

Nah, no screenshot needed. I was just to lazy to remove the URL-part (the file is the important thing) :)

Did you try to insert link by editing HTML?

Yeah, that works. But not the Button "Insert Link"

Have you tried adding (or removing) www in front of
Code: [Select]
$mosConfig_live_site = 'http://www.your_elxis_site.com'; in your configuration.php?

Nope. It's an alias for my webserver... -> no www needed.

I tried to reproduce the problem you described, but I have no luck...

Interesting. Hmmm, which FF-Version are you using? I'm using FF3 (with enabled JS + Java, of course)

I have tested in FF2, FF3, NN7, Safari3, IE6, IE7... and I only have some other issues on Mac and Linux with default browser.

actually this is needed, you must access always backend with the same url as is  in Live-site , in config file.
no matter if is an alias

i don't know if this is the problem here but believe me .... you have to follow this tip. ;)

in my linux boxes fedora 7 / ubuntu 8 (and ms-Xp box)  working in FF2 FF3 opera galeon .
Konqueror(no tiny at all systems)
---------------

What java version?
Any firewall-blocker?

Well, I'm accessing live-site via elxis.dismar.name and backend via elxis.dismar.name/administrator ;-)

Java-Version: Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_07-b06 (for FF3) // 1.6.0.u7-1.1
Firewall-Blocker: nope.

Best regards,
owl

well my java-plugin(manual install) 1.6.0.06 .... but ff3 has no java at all .. tiny still works
galleon and opera uses systems java default installation..
so it can't be Java related problem.

also never had that problem on my 3 servers that using elxis,
and 3pc+2 laptop witch snare almost any browser and any main Os(except mac).

I'm not sure but... have you check any seo relation perhaps?

good lack to this .. i hope that is not something permanently.

Edit:
http://elxis.dismar.name/ is password protected  .. did you checked servers-log to see if  tiny is blocked somewhere??

Konqueror, JavaScript + Java enabled: TinyMCE doesn't work at all. (happens with Knoppix and OpenSuse)
Win XP + Opera: works.
IE6 + Win2000: TinyMCE and Elxis show all flavor of weird behaviour, sometimes (reproducible??? dunno)
Knoppix + Iceweasel 2: Works

I wanted to test FF with latest knoppix-DVD, but in vmware my knoppix freezes, when opening FF >:-) .oO( I'm good at finding bugs or weird behaviour of software)

SEO relation? - "SEO Off/On/etc"-tests?

BTW, I first selected text, then clicked "insert link"... ;-) I will test tonight, if I can reproduce the "FF3 and TinyMCE"-problem again - at least it was reproducible 3 times, I did log off/log on + clear cache etc.

Well, it's still reproducible with my FF3... Even after a complete fresh install of elxis 2008.0+hotfix ;-)

Hi Owl,

I am using fedora as a test base and I have tested elxis using opera, ff 2, ff 3, ie 6, ie 8, and chrome with no problems.

Maybe your installation of elxis went bad.

As said: I had this problem even after a fresh install of elxis... ;-) Maybe it's my browser...

Nope. (But maybe I should install opensuse 11 into vmware)

Ok, now I'm becoming mad... Freshly installed SUSE in VMware, with my elxis-installation: insert works with FF3. WTF? .oO( why doesn't it work on my private laptop? Maybe a firefox-PLUGIN-problem?)
