We have tested Oracle with Elxis in the past. At this time Oracle is not functional with elxis and we have nt proceed in making it full usable with elxis as there are no user requests for this database. 99.5% of the users use mysql. Only a 0.5% use Postgres (full compatible with Elxis). In the other hand we have requests for FireBird. FireBird/InterBase is the most possible database that we will add next in Elxis (maybe in version 2008.1). The biggest problems with Oracle or FireBird is that they dont like the naming of some db columns. For example Oracle likes everything to be uppercase. This requires database modification meaning totally break of the compatibility with previous elxis versions. We may do something special for these databases in order not to break compatibility. FireBird also has some problems with complex queries, but this is something we can solve. Oracle is a powerful database and we do not have problem with complex queries. An other database we also like to make it comopatible with Elxis is microsoft SQL.

If you decide to develop Elxis to Oracle I am ready to help in testing... I thought it is already done... :-\

Oracle db is now freeware (Oracle 10 Express Edition) so I think it'll become more popular. I need CMS like Joomla to be wotrking with Oracle. Maybe some alternative solution is there for me?

Me too. We have several request for CMS with Oracle. Would be great if Elxis to be able to support Oracle.

The good news are that the ADOdb database library that Elxis uses updated recently (30/1/2008) and the new version supports better Oracle! We will add this version to Elxis CMS and make it compatible with Elxis in version 2008.1 or 2008.2.
