Title: horizontal mainmenu

I am trying to figure out how to make the main menu module appear horizontal. I have tried setting it to horizontal in the back end but that still shows the menu one below each other not side by side as i want it is there any way of achieving this as i am not a coder but could possibly work it out if pointed in the right direction.
If not is there another module that is available that i could use as i cannot seem to find one have tried most of the joomla ones they work to a certain extent but not fully.

use JSCookMenu , so you can have a great javascript menu ...
but it has a bit problem , if you want tell me that i explain about it ...
