Congratulations on a fantastic product. I am currently adding content to a site developed using Elxis and Edir, and have to say it has been a breeze. I have a professional looking site (well I think so anyway ;D), which otherwise would have taken me hours upon hours.
After using it now for a number of weeks (on and off), there is only one feature that I would consider that you have overlooked, and that is a calendar view on the reservations module.
I have a property that is around 80% booked, and potential renters need to continually check availability by selecting dates and clicking the check availability button. A great improvement would be a calendar view (say 6 months or defineable) that shows the availability of a property at a glance (this could be read only so long as the user could move back and forward through months). It could simply colour change the dates, red for booked, amber for provisional, and green for available, by reading the reservation dates for the property. Similar functionality is available on many other online booking systems.
I think the current configuration and functionality is geared towards a hotel with multiple units whereas I run holiday vacation units where a client will rent the entire unit normally for one week.
I can see there being problems and missed rental income when there are only 1 or 2 weeks available for a property as a potential renter would find it hard to find the remaining slots (as they'll be more adaptable to changing their dates to visit). Even worse could be where a property only has a few nights available mid-week, where two other clients have booked long weekends.
Any chance of adding this functionality to a feature request list? Please (would pretty please help?).... :-[

Your idea is good and not so hard to be implemented. So, we will add it in the next EDir update (after the release of Elxis 2008 a new version of EDir will follow - off course you will be able to update to the new version).

Will the current version of EDIR be compatible with Elxis 2008 or will I have to upgrade to Elxis 2008 once you have realased a later version of EDIR?

In Elxis we care very much for backwards compatibility. EDir is AND will be compatible to both 2006.x and 2008.0. BUT we strongly reccomend to always update to the latest releases for both Elxis and EDir (or any other component). Elxis 2008 is a much more faster, secure and powerful. All sites must be upgrade to 2008.
Notice specially for template and 2008: Update to 2008 does not updates your template (it is a custom addon). So, you must use an other template or modify your existing one when you update to 2008. Why? Because 2008 introduces some standards and changes css.
