An old component from the Elxis 2008 days comes back to life. Component Bubbles is a component which can be used as a mini forum, as a FAQ tool, to provide support, as a communication gateway between your site members and visitors and for many other purpose you might find it useful. Of course the new Bubbles will have nothing in common to the old one as it is re-designed from scratch. The component is relatively small and will be available very soon. Thanks to user nikos for reminding me this useful component from Elxis' old days. Stay tuned!

Excellent news! Ιndeed, Bubbles was a very useful component of older Elxis versions (2008.x) that I had used it in the years 2008, 2009 on sites with registered members as a mini forum and I think it will also serve well in the new Elxis versions.

The new Bubbles will be improved a lot. It will look like a mini forum and I think it will become a very useful component for many sites.

Screenshots from the upcoming new Elxis component Bubbles. The pages still need a lot of work, what you see is under construction. Although Bubbles will be a mini forum it will have many features of a full featured forum!

A new screenshot from a thread page. This page is almost complete!

Bubbles just released! Bubbles is a brand new mini forum component for Elxis CMS. Download Bubbles from EDC (https://www.elxis.net/edc/communication/167.html)

Bubbles forum (https://www.elxis.net/edc/communication/167.html) generates pages based on topics IDs. So if a topic has ID the number 14 its URL will be:
https://www.example.com/bubbles/14.html
All replies will be bellow this initial post.
To make a link to the second page use this URL:
https://www.example.com/bubbles/14.html?page=2
The same for third, fourth, etc, pages.
To go to the last page of a thread use this URL:
https://www.example.com/bubbles/14.html?last=1
To go to a specific reply within this topic, for example reply with ID 23, use this URL:
https://www.example.com/bubbles/14.html?postid=23
In this case Bubbles does something very smart. Finds the exact page this reply is and loads that page. Also it scrolls automatically down to that specific reply.
To find all topics having a specific tag, or replies that contain this tag in their tittle use this URL:
https://www.example.com/bubbles/search.html?tag=example
To find all posts of a specific user use this URL:
https://www.example.com/bubbles/search.html?uid=5
Where "5" is a sample user ID.
In case the author is a guest to find all of his posts use the ID of any of his post and generate the URL like that:
https://www.example.com/bubbles/search.html?guestpost=45
Where "45" is a sample post/topic id of that guest.
Finally, inside your posts you can use hashtags like that: This is a #sample hashtag. Bubbles will automatically convert the hashtag (#sample) into a link pointing to the search page!

COOL!!! You always amaze me! This is a very GREAT component.
I would like to also translate the Chinese version of this so that more people have the opportunity to use it. thank you for your contribution.

Hi datahell,
May I ask Bubbles only to search for "topic" in the search function? Can I do it if I want to search for the content?
If there is currently no function to search for text, will it be added in the next version? Thank you so much.
-
When searching for a tag the search is performed on topic tags and on topic replies titles. Usually the replies title has this format: "Re:original topic title".
So if you provide a tag with something in topic's title you will have it in your search results!
Tip 1: To create a tag link just type #something in the editor. Bubbles will convert it to a link to search for tag "something".
Tip 2: When creating a new topic always provide relative tags (keywords)
-
Understand, but most people will still like keywords that can search for content. It is better, more flexible and easier to use. I hope you can consider this feature.

This is why Bubbles' subtitle is: A mini forum component
If it had all the features of a large scale forum it would be : A forum component :P

I can really feel that the Bubbles function is very successful 👍, maybe it can be brought to the forum level, I believe more people will like to use it。 :D
