Hi,
I personally don't like the use of flash, but this client wants one.
So my question is on how to set it up.
Should I create a html page for the intro page that will link to the index.php? Should I install elxis in a subfolder?
or
can we create the elxis home page (index.php) to have nothing more than just a few links and the flash movie, and link to another php page with the main elxis content?
thanks
any thoughts?

I would prefer this solution, if he persists! Cause it's easier to roll back to the main Elxis homepage when he will regret for his decision. ;)

Here's my 2 cents.
Flash is an eye catcher but unfortunately it is a negative aspect of SEO and the page may loose rank because of it.
I have found that using small blocks of flash is better especially for loading time. Lately I have been experimenting with adobe edge.
It is better than flash because it also allows text to be read by search engines but it is still early to see what it can really do.
I think that if you do create a flash file, place it on a page and click on the front page box so that it displays only on the front page that way you can unpublish it if they change their mind.

created my index.html containing the flash instro, and entered the following in .htaccess
DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.php
and now the html file shows instead of the php
hope that elxis does not have a problem with that.. or will it since we have a blank index.html file in every directory???

That's the correct! The index.html is supposed to show up.
Notice: You must embed the code of the flash intro, so it can start playing on the site. When the intro ends, you can redirect your visitors to your Elxis installation (index.php).

I have created a menu within the flash movie to direct them to pages of the site, and also have a footer with the same menu in pure html ;)
