Hi there,
could I PM someone details of an installation where SEO Pro is enabled, .htaccess is renamed but I'm just getting 404s for everything except the frontpage template...
The only difference I've never done with this installation is additional languages - could this be related?

Hello seadhna,
Did you create the site at the host from the beginning or locally on your pc?
You mentioned multipe languages, try the following:
Tools -> clean cache
Tools -> empty temporary
Tools -> fix langauge
in that order.

Hi xmanhattan,
thanks for your response. I'm creating the site on the webspace.
I followed your steps but no change I'm afraid - where the homepage content is supposed to appear (i.e. template is appearing fine but within template where homepage content should appear - this error message appears: Warning - there are no items to display.
And all other pages are giving a 404.
I'm wondering if it's a language issue because I plan to use the languages feature for the first time with this site but have not switched it on yet...

Oh - just trying to predict other questions: I have created a main menu item linking to frontpage component and this is the first item in the menu.

This might be a silly question but in the content items have you placed a check mark on one of them as a front page item?
-
yes - I'm using an autonomous page as the frontpage item. However, the frontpage not appearing within the template is just one part of the issue - not content item is appearing - all return 404 errors when I type in the url. The only thing which is appearing correctly is the frontpage template (minus the frontpage component which is an error message) at the root url.

If you have put the site in a sub-folder you should elxis the htaccess file and change the "rewrite base".
Contact me with a pm if you like.

No, it's in the root folder - I will PM you the details, thanks.
