If it is only to add content and articles only leave writable what is absolutely essential and lock everything else.

The following are essential for import of articles:
- lists of pictures (/images and subfolders)
- /cache
- /tmpr
- list and files of recording defender (if we use him)
- list and files of recording floodblocker (if we use him)

Nothing else.

Note: the first 3 may be non-writable and yet elxis will continue to work fine.
In this case the files/lists will be supposed to belong to the ftp user and the corresponding operation will have been activated.

The safest combination is the following:
Everything belongs to the ftp user and is non-writable from php (this is the secret).
Ftp is disabled.
If we want to upload or install something (component, module etc.) , we have to activate our ftp, do what we need to do and then disable the ftp again.

All the above do not cover non-compatible with elxis components, modules etc.
For this reason: be careful what you install in sensitive site.
