I have checked my rss atom feeds and noticed that the date that appears does not coincide with the date that the publish date of the article.
I checked the specifications of the rss atom, here http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4287.txt (http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4287.txt) and they note that the dates and times must be exact to show the differences. The reason that I ask is because I am thinking of displaying some of the info from my site on facebook.
One problem that I noticed is a major difference between published date and the atom date that shows the current date.
I checked another site to see if this was happening only on my site and confirmed that it exists on other sites as well.
I was wondering if this is a bug?

I have noticed the same issue Peter too.
I think it's something like bug here. However i think that if we modify the com_rss component then it will return the desired date ;) .
Because of limited free time i have disabled the dates of my rss feeds here (http://www.webgift.dev/rss/rss.xml)

Thank you for looking at this. I too believe that it needs some work and I mentioned it just in case it can be done before the next version comes out.

...
Could you give an online example to see it?

Hello Nikos,
Sure thing, http://www.bournias.net/rss/atom03.xml (http://www.bournias.net/rss/atom03.xml)
The list will show some of my content but the actual dates will be very different from the creation date of the content.
example ACC101 was actually created on 17 July 2008 but atom shows the date as August 15, 2011.
I have seen this happen on some of my other sites too.
-
You are right. I never used till now atom and i had not noticed this. Maybe is better to use only RSS 2.0 which they do not show articles date avoiding to publish atom.
-
No, the problem is that it is also showing some very old content items and so I believe that there maybe another problem as well.
If it were only showing the latest content items, even though they may not be currently dated because someone has not written anything new, that would be logical to be shown, but I have seen some very old content items included with the newer ones.
I think that the program logic and code needs to be looked at.

Peter have you modified the relative component at [Administrator Area] Components -> Syndicate ?
- Cache radio button : no ( in order to test that. When you finish checking that restore that option to yes).
- Order field : Most recent first
-
I had the cache set to off. I just tested it by setting it on but it still does the same, so I set it to off again.
There is no order parameter.
-
Can you see the order option on the attached image below ?

Hello webgift,
Sorry for the delay in answering, I was away.
Yes, I found that under components and that does help.
Many thanks,
Peter
