Hi,
I purchased IOS Reservations, but first I need to install Elxis CMS. I am using BlueHost as my provider and the domains are set up like this:
/public_html
/mydomain1/
/mydomain2/
/bookmys1/
/mydomain4/
/mydomain5/
bookmys1 is my primary domain and the others are sub-domains, which BlueHost refers to as addons.
As per the directions, I uploaded the extracted files to /public_html and changed all the folder permissions to 755 and changed all the file permissions to 644. When going to the url /bookmys1/installation the following appears
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home2/bookmys1/public_html/includes/version.php on line 16
I would like assistance on clearing this problem.
And a general comment:
When looking for how to install this, I found 3 different ways...
1 - Youtube video says to extract locally and then upload to root directory. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_N2tlUcqdo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_N2tlUcqdo) Uploaded on 16 June 2009.
2 - Above in a post from the administrator says to upload the zipped (compressed files) file to the root folder and then unzip. Directions dated 12 February 2008.
3 - Another youtube video showing the shell script method. Uploaded on 07 June 2010.
For youtube I know that you cannot change the upload dates, but for the 12 February 2008 page, maybe it would be good to have an updated date or a last reviewed date. It just looks old as this is 2011.
Thanks!

Welcome to our community Toshiba.
Remove the bookmys1 folder and install the primary domain under the /public_html folder.
After that we will examine if that issue still exists.

Hi webgift,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I just had an online chat with the host. They said "Deleting that directory would delete everything for your account. It is your home directory. Also, that error means there is a coding/scripting error in that file."
So, I am confused. Any suggestions?

Deleting what folder? Do you mean bookmys1 folder ?
Deleting the public_html folder then you will delete everything at your account.

Ok, I had another chat with online with the host. Their response:
/home2 folder is a drive on our server for several customers, and the /home2/bookmys1 is the space allotted for your account specifically...
... so public_html will always be inside /home2/bookmys1
if you had a script that was referencing /home2/public_html instead of /home2/bookmys1/public_html then you would go into that correct and change it to /home2/bookmys1/public_html, rather than move the location of the public_html folder
Is there a script I can change so the installation works?
Thanks again

Ok. I will inform you shortly.

Ok. Issue found.
- Your Hosting Company provides (http://www.bluehost.com/cgi/info/hosting_features) PHP version: 5.0.
- At your website the version is 4.4.9
- Elxis 2009.2 requires PHP version 5.x.
So the php version of your hosting package must be updated. ;)
-
Ha!
I updated to 5.2.17 php and the Pre-installation check list appeared like magic! :o
It is late here, so I will run the installation tomorrow and then install IOS Reservations. Thanks a million for the help. Always the little things that cause problems.
Let's see how exciting the installation of IOS Reservation will be. :-X
